exclusivity is more outdated. publishers need wide availability to recoup investment and multi-platform doesnt hurt console manufacturers because each have a strong install base

@@Rackstack234 actually, if games were multi-platform, then manufacturers would have to provide meaningful upgrades to their products and experience, breeding more meaningful competition. look at Nintendo, they have a load of exclusives and they are still sitting on their 6 year old tablet

@ they did deliver innovations, in the form of a hybrid tablet. There are not many meaningful hardware innovations left tbh, it’s all in the software. And hardware innovations come with an increased R&D cost which is passed on to the consumer. Consumers have made it clear, low cost is their highest value when it comes to a console

Switch lite yeah, steam deck is obsolete, does not have OLED sales and charged more for that white model. A shame lenovo legion go has an upcoming weak lite model when it's already went on sale to $500. 4:40 it and other pc hybrids can play Xbox game pass or the few crossover xbox games on pc. Ps portal did add ps plus streaming at least. Ps3 did troll lol get 2 jobs and was a precedent to take away stuff with "upgrades" from ps2 backwards compatibility to today's ps5 stand and disc drives

2:36 complete bullshit. They cheapest blue ray player was more expensive than a PS3 which came with a blue ray player. From technical standpoint it was a bargain, but blue ray technology was still too expensive for an average household. Sony just learned that there is a limit on how much people are willing to spend on new tech to play higher quality movies or games.

If Sony makes the console or handheld completely backwards compatible either through interchanging disc drives or actual make the Ps Store go back to include majority of the titles from gen 1 to current. All others will always be steps behind. Nintendo and Microsoft already accomplishes this for the most part using their online stores but that the only area where Sony has lagged!

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time, no one was sure of Playstation's success. There was doubt even from within Sony. Just the other day, I was reading how Sega was saying they would demolish Playstation's second outing; the PS2 since the article mentions how no system dominated two generations in a row (or was very rare). So even with PS1's huge success, there were doubts by some that the sequel would also succeed. Now, if only they didn't go batshit with PS3, the market could have been very different. I think PS3 could have killed Xbox if it continued the dominance of Playstation, but instead it gave the competition hope. On the plus side, Sony's arrogance with PS3 forced some long awaited positive changes within Sony. In response, PS4 was amazing. Now, imagine if PS Vita had 4G, SD card support, and no exclusivity with AT&T, then maybe things could have been different in the handheld world today. The butterfly effect is always fascinating to think about.

It will all go to cloud, PlayStation kicking and screaming (consoles in general), NVIDIA Geforce Now and other services MS and PS are only just starting to gain traction online. Game anywhere on anything from the cloud with cross-platform games. (Apple users incl.)

Why is it better? PlayStation 5 and its peripherals give you a way better experience than Xbox X does. I have both systems. I hardly use my Xbox just for that reason. GamePass is the only thing I think is better but that has barely anything to do with the system itself.
