American Eagle 357 158 jsp out of a H&R single shot is the kid's favorite in our family. Nickel size exit wounds on broadside whitetails out to 100 yards. With the lack of recoil you can actually see steam escape from the lungs on impact through the scope.

The new Henry Supreme in 300BLK looks fantastic, but sadly, it's going to cost about three times as much as a Ruger American Ranch

Guess what, the 357 isnt a pistol caliber eighter, it is used in pistol, revolver and rifle, its a do it all caliber and you can buy it everywere

357 magnum is definitely a pistol caliber; by your logic, 9mm is a rifle caliber because they make 16 inch PCCs.

@@heyhayhay247 nope its used in many revolvers, but also some pistols and lever action rifles, thats why they call 357 the do it all

@happymark1805 1. the .357 was designed to make a more powerful .38 special for HANDGUNS. It was years later before they used it in full sized guns 2. Colloquially, pistol and handgun are interchangeable terms even if technically a revolver is not a pistol. And 3 Just because they use it in a gun with a 16 inch barrel doesn't make it a rifle caliber. 357 does not get anywhere near rifle type wounding characteristics as it doesn't have enough velocity. You sound ridiculous trying to compare what is unequivocally a handgun round to real rifle rounds. No one but you is saying this nonsense.

@@heyhayhay247 actualy the 357 was made to make powerfull 38sp blackpowder, the original 38SP blackpowder was back in the days also used in leveraction RIFLES next to the revolver, so it always was a revolver and rifle ammo, and even now the 357 leveraction rifle is more powerfull than my .30M1 carbine rilfe, so you see the 357 is the real do it all ammo, rifle, revolver and pistol

@happymark1805 I have realized you're European, and therefore, I should not really care if you're wrong. However, no, the 357 was developed to compete with the 38 Super and has never been offered in black powder; it was always designed as a smokeless powder derived cartridge. It was developed for revolvers to defeat the limited armor availble to criminals in the 1930s. Please don't try discussing this in videos with larger comments sections; you'll get crucified. Lastly, the .30 carbine is a very interesting middle-ground cartridge that is more powerful than a handgun cartridge but not quite into rifle territory. Regardless, 357 magnum has never and will never be categorized as a rifle cartridge whether or not you can use it in a firearm with a 16 inch barrel.
