44 mag, 444 Marlin and 45/70 would be interesting to compare in this test.

I'm still waiting for the perfect deal on a 45-70 lol I'll revisit it with bigger calibers down the road
@fredeschen3783 Жыл бұрын
@@ArchetypeofMan better save up for ammo too.😅

Well if it has a bayonet the bolt action would have some advantage. But a .45-70 lever will handle anything that needs shooting.

Bayonets need to come back into style lol

AoM. Good video. Nice shooting. I love those big holes from the 450, but I doubt that my shoulder could handle one. Thanks for sharing and take care.
@ArchetypeofMan Жыл бұрын
Thanks Bobcat!! The 450 is a beast for sure. Recoil is comparable to a 12 gauge, IMO

OUTSTANDING. I agree with you shoot and training is key. Carry enough gun always and learn how to run it.

I'll have to revisit this with my 12 gauge next time I'm out. I like a 12 gauge slug for this too, in theory. I'll have to try it out!

Lever action for sure , cant beat a Henry

454 Casull is basically 450 bushmaster, but yeah unless your fighting grizzly bears I don't see the need to carry it in a side arm. That being said Rossi makes a 20in lever 454 Casull that holds 9+1 rounds, so if you want speed and capacity go with that.

Lever guns tend to be the go to up here. .44 mag, 30-30 & 45 LC being pretty common. Granted you were faster with the lever, if I read your timer correctly, your 1st shot was faster with both bolts. We're still here & watching Kyle
@ArchetypeofMan Жыл бұрын
Thanks Kyle! Always makes my day when I see your Pop's name pop up!! I keep the lever gun chambered, but with the hammer down, so it takes me a tad longer to pop the hammer back than to disengage the safety. Hope y'all are doing well!

Yes there is a 450 Bushmaster Revolver it's a Magnum Research BFR Revolver in .450 Bushmaster. Great video always love to watch your video's thanks.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. Now I'm off to watch videos on that revolver 😂😂😂

I'm inclined to agree with You on the two choices for your landscape and critters you'd most likely encounter. That .450 bushmaster, even though only 4 rounds, those 4 rounds would most Definitely COUNT. You had all four in a pretty damn small group! That piggy would most certainly be having a Bad day. Oh...and as for getting rounds off quick with a bolt action, Polenar Tactical just recently did a video on the subject. They have a somewhat unconventional trigger press that seemed to be pretty effective. Check it out. Those Crazy Slavs....😂😂😂
@ArchetypeofMan Жыл бұрын
I'll check them out for sure!! I surprised myself with the .450 honestly. I'd never shot it like that before. The recoil, while stout, isn't too much different than a 12 gauge with slugs.

i don’t have one YET but i would think a lever action would be more efficient. my .2 cents.

I think you're right. A lever action in 45-70 would really seal the deal lol

At risk of sounding like a fudd or boomer, ahem... Of those 3 for that environment, .357 lever all day. Matched with a good revolver (oh wait, didn't I have a dream about a deagle in .357 1980 something.) in matching caliber. My father was a proponent of mechanical actions when it counts. I may be guilty as well. But on that, the lever action or a pump would be quicker than the bolt, but a tool for every job. Of those 3. Good stuff. :)

I'm turning more and more into a boomer with my newfound fascination for levers, bolts, and revolvers lol No harm in that!
