I went and bought one,used it once stored it in my carport all winter,, started it up an ran it a few minutes every few weeks. It started every time,even in below zero weather! Getting ready to use it now.I think it's gonna be alright!

Mines been solid so far. Ive got around 13 actual hours on it. Its not a speed demon by any means but it does seem like proper care will make it last.

Great video from a good old boy. There just isn"t enough of you anymore. Nice to see you aren"t listening to a record player. You are the last of a dying breed. GRIZ

The Hangkai is very similar to the Tomking. Aluminum bore. Very short break in. You CAN use part ethanol gas, but don't leave it in the tank when you're done. It's made to pour back into your container very easily. Pump the priming bulb. You can remove the flywheel and file and shim the notch to retard the ignition toward top dead center. This will give cooler idle and slow speed but no real detriment to the top speed. Change the centrifugal clutch springs to light ones to troll. Don't forget to put gear oil in the prop gear hub. Some of you can go faster by filing any burs in the handle, then ad an extension to sit in the middle seat of your boat. It makes a great bow thruster or emergency motor for a big boat. A brand new motor goes up my stairs after use. No more water cooled outboards for me.

@@ChadE-jt3si grats! Mine now has a broken throttle, the clutch pads are nearly shot already, it turns on its own (as most people mention), and only starts on the first 20 pulls about half the time, the other half it never starts and I get frustrated and give up. Several mounts are broken already, but that's cause I tried treating it like an Evinrude or Honda. 😅😕Customer service is pretty good, and Lucy ended up giving me a full refund. That's the only good thing. I'd say I got a dud, it was very shaky and vibrated far too much to try to fish, never really started running decently until I rebuilt the carb, changed the gearbox oil, changed the spark plug to an NGK, and cleaned the clutch (absolutely full of pad dust). Even still, it's more frustrating than fun. But again, don't stress, I probably just had bad luck. A neighbor gave me a Shindaiwa Cruise n' Carry 2hp 2 cycle from the 80s that's a far superior build, so I'm gonna rebuild and use that. And the exhaust ports into the water so hopefully it won't be crazy loud. I have a good bit of small engine experience, but I would definitely say I should have used the motor for what it is: an inexpensive China motor made to get from point A to B that should stay inside when not in use. Advice: adhere to that break in period religiously. Order as many shear & cotter pins as you can before the motor arrives. It comes with a couple extras, but you'll go through em. Don't worry with the cage unless you reinforce it heavily before installation, it's gonna snap off before you get it in the water. 😅😕 Don't open the gearbox unless you have to. The ones they're shipping now DO have oil in there, but if you take it off, reapply some gasket sealant--those gaskets don't seal very well after removal. Replace the spark plug with a good one when you order your extra pins. NGK or Briggs. Put a rubber grommet or pad between the shaft and the clamp so it won't spin around on its own -- you'll see what I'm talking about if you haven't seen videos of it already. Baby the motor. It doesn't like rough handling, and won't tolerate ANY abuse. I can't stress enough to break it in properly. I got overexcited and went to 50% throttle a couple times for a few seconds during the first 2 hours, and I'm sure that didn't help, but it shouldn't have caused all the issues I had. If you want mine for backup parts or whatever at any point, respond here or email me at Somaticular@gmail.com and we'll work something out. The good news is that most folks have very little trouble with these motors, and with proper care and maintenance and breaking in correctly they seem to last at least 2-3 years before needing any serious repair. During those 3-4 (outta maybe 14 total) hours that it was running pretty well, I could easily hit 6½mph under any conditions: with or against current, 15mph winds, 300lbs or 750+ lbs (yep, me and two of my bigger buddies took it out for midnight fishing that turned into drunken trespassing on an island😜😅🤦‍♂️), nothing I did significantly affected the speed on my Bass Tracker Bantam 2x 10ft (over 12' total).

If people really knew this engine, they'd have less problems with it.. This is a 2hp motor. Not made for current. This motor would make a nice lake motor. With any motor, you need to break it in first, change the engine oil every 10 running hours. Kinda like a lawn mower engine. Change out the gear grease after breakin.

Great review video. What do you think on throwing a pipe from the exhaust all the way down to the water to make it a little more quiet?
@countryfriedfishing
@countryfriedfishing Жыл бұрын
That can be done but it will keep you from spinning the motor around fully for reverse. I have seen people pipe the exhaust to direct the sound and it did quiet the noise at your ears.

@@countryfriedfishing do you think it will affect the performance of the outboard? BTW, nice lil boat you got there! My is a 12ft plastic sub dolphin.

It shouldnt as long as the pipe you use keeps the same or bigger diameter. Thanks,fully loaded,”2 group size 31 batteries,myself and gear with trolling motor”,im getting between 4.5 and 5mph in a 10/36. I dont think its a full 4hp,,,,maybe a 2.5 but its been solid. Break the motor in properly and use good oil and gear oil,keep the fluids changed and its not bad.

It's not made for fast current we have a lot of slow current reservoirs in Tennessee I think it will work for it

Where do you find affordable ethanol free gas? Ethanol should be outlawed at the pumps.🤬🍻

Jet Food Store on Highway 80. Only Non Ethanol around here. Little guy really doesn’t use much gas. I mainly use it for loading the boat and crossing the lake and I only have to refuel every 4-5 trips.
