I have the efi exh mnflds on the 300 again. There are two plain jane mufflers then two short pipes that turn before the pass rear tire ( Less back pressure ). I still use the 1V carb and oil bath air filter. The 300 is even stronger than the 240 ( of course ! ). With this set up I don't need a V-8. All the best, Pete 🙂

VERY nice truck! I too have a 300 six in my 1995 F150, 4x2, 5 speed manual. It goes in tomorrow to stop the oil hemorrhaging... 100 miles per quart. I am getting too old to tackle the oil leaks. Oil pan gasket (botched up by previous owner), porous oil pan, leaking oil pressure sending unit, valve cover gasket, side cover gasket, possibly rear main seal. The PCV valve is functioning ok. The only seal that doesn’t leak is the front cover, and I’ll have them change it while things are apart. Very strong engine, even for 198k. I expect I’ll get another 100k or more out of it. It currently has 198k+ on the clock. I bought it over 12 years ago and it’s a southern truck. Very minimal sheet metal rust, super solid frame. I do not drive it when the roads are snowy or salty (I live in MA and it is not my daily driver). Your truck is a beauty. 👍

Nice! I have the same setup except I put an Edelbrock carb on mine. I changed to the newer AVS2 carb and it made quite a difference. The annular boosters gave me much crisper throttle response and torque off the line. I also put a Thompson Performance powerblast plate on it which made the last little remnants of a stutter disappear when i hit the throttle. I’m trying my best to get more fuel economy in preparation for a trip from CA to Arkansas. I’m planning on switching from ported to manifold vacuum advance to get more timing at cruise and running an HEI to get that low load cylinder charge ignited as much as possible. I’ve been able to get my ‘72 F350 flatbed from 9 mpg to 18 currently. Next I’ll fiddle a bit more with the timing and put an overdrive unit on it. Should be over 20 mpgs easy!

@@Wayz5145 My friend bought a 96 E150 handicap equipped, he put over 400,000 miles on it, that is why I got this one. The 96 has the ignition mounted on a heat sink on the fender away from the distributor, but you can't change the fact the capacitors in the ECM are old and either will have failed, or be ready to, get them replaced, have a restriction plate made for the EGR, you don't want to remove it, just limit the gasses going through, throttle body gaskets are only good for 30,000 miles then they crack and get sucked in, either replace the injectors or have them sonic cleaned, and this engine uses the highest fuel pressure, its to combat vapor lock as the exhaust is by the intake, so it cycles the fuel quickly through the rails to keep it cool, 55PSI is normal, low pressure pump in the tank, collector on the rail followed by a high pressure pump. Remove the smog rail, the plug need be machine thread, not pipe thread, plug up the head, there are available heads without the smog holes, be sure to leak down test it first to look for burnt valve, or valve leaking, I'm still fighting to keep mine running in gear, no vacuum leak found, could be internal like a valve.

@@chrish5096 you can use either one on the single plane, but if you use a dual plane, it’s better to run the four hole ( just my opinion) BTW, I would recommend turning your carburetor perpendicular to the engine… especially if using a dual plane intake.

Beautiful pickup and a helpful video! I am going to try your set up in my 1968. I have a question unrelated to the video topic. I noticed your upper radiator hose enters the radiator on the passenger side. Does your lower radiator hose also hook to the radiator on the passenger side? Do you know your top and bottom radiator hose sizes? Sorry to be a bother, but I am struggling to find a decent radiator for my 1968 and I was thinking about shopping for 1979 components instead. I might share my email if you respond. Have a great day!

Hey there, I don't have my truck near me right now, but it does have a passenger side lower radiator hose based on digging through some of my older photos. Unfortunately I don't have a good way to measure the hose sizes for you at this time.

Nice truck. How are you liking the single plane? I want to do this to my truck but read the dual port offy is better for stock RPM applications.
@rumrivertriples40733 жыл бұрын
I like it. The dual port would have very likely been better for me since the rest is still stock but I wanted room to grow in case I did a ported head/cam/turbo/etc. down the road

I'm almost done with my 1994 4.9 conversion from EFI to carburetor. I have the same intake and carburetor but my question is what type of spacer did you use? I currently have a 1 inch with a 4 hole bore and it's not working.
@deadcarnahans1932 Жыл бұрын
Why is it not working? Will not fit physically? Or engine will not run properly? I used four hole spacer under my 2V carb after cutting out the four holes and blending it well. Works fine.
@leonardgriffin8951 Жыл бұрын
@@deadcarnahans1932 I'm not really sure, I pulled the 4 hole spacer and put an aluminum square bore spacer and it helped. It's a new carburetor but I think it's a bad one. The accelerator pump was leaking and I fixed that with a new diaphragm. It has an acculink tps mounted on the throttle linkage side with a 24 inch lokar cable that all seem to be working. I checked the fuel pressure as I'm stepping down from an EFI fuel pump. The regulator is set at 6.5 and has a return relieving the excess fuel back to the tank. Both bowl levels are about half way and now the vacuum secondary is leaking down the plunger shaft. I think I'm just going to return the quick fuel carb and get a Holley.
@deadcarnahans1932 Жыл бұрын
@@leonardgriffin8951 Let me ask this. What transmission are you running? You mentioned the Acculink TPS. I have the same on mine for my 4R70W. I assume you have an aftermarket controller for your transmission.

@@deadcarnahans1932 I believe the offy intake is a dual plane setup and the user must align the carb primaries with the intake primaries.. Sry for the shit explanation, maybe someone will clarify..

@rumrivertriples40733 жыл бұрын
Mine did have the smog air injection pump. You will have to check with your local regulations on whether it is required to retain the OEM emissions equipment to stay in compliance.
@andyurena97203 жыл бұрын
I actually checked out the local laws and I do not have to have the truck smog tested. With that said, what exactly needs to be removed and do I need to cap or run anything different once it is removed?.

@@rumrivertriples4073 I did find out were it says if your truck has an EGR or not, on my federal 1978 F series and most trucks there's an emissions sticker on the valve cover, I didn't notice it before as part of the top of the decal was missing,and dirty.mine only says engine:300ci . 2 barrel carbs need to be installed perpendicular to the engine, otherwise you don't spread the fuel on both sides of the offy plenum on idle and as a result 3 cylinders get more or less fuel. That was probably your issue. 4yrs later you probably know that now. Lol

Thankfully my state does not require smog testing at this time - although with that said it runs FAR cleaner now than when it had the miles of vacuum lines and original 1bbl carb. It used to smoke and run terribly rich. It is far better in that regard now
