300+ Mods Make A Very Different Gatecrasher, XCOM 2 Modded WOTC Part 1

This is a heavily modded campaign built around the following 3 mods: Covert Infiltration, A Better ADVENT, and Proficiency Class Pack. Between them, most of the game has been overhauled, and the other 300 mods easily fill in the cracks. We have 7 new classes replacing the old ones, a completely different strategy layer with an infiltration mechanic, and a much more diverse and intelligent array of enemies.
I've also edited several of the config files to set the campaign to 8 man squads. As such, I've also used Diverse Aliens By Force Level and A Better Campaign PLUS to push the enemy count into absurd numbers. We'll see how balanced this all plays out, but ever since Long War 1 I've been deeply attached to 8-man squads.

Oh man, quite a lot if you haven't seen War of the Chosen. That was a fantastic expansion pack and mods have built off of it tremendously!

You mention that you use A Better Campaign Plus, however in your Steam Mod List it is not listed. BTW... Absolutely great series you have here. I really appreciate your in-depth explanation of Covert Infiltration and the Proficiency Classes. Great work!

I'm in the process of heavily reworking the mod setup and ABC+ is getting cut in favor of Golden Path revamped and higher tuning on Dynamic Aliens.

@@RatherIncoherent Any particular reason for the Golden Path change. I actually use Golden Path but I am considering moving to ABC. (I stick to the 6 man squad size)

@@vaultwulf1927 ABC is pretty much strictly better if you only run Better ADVENT, but if you start incorporating other enemy mods then Golden Path is beter for story missions since it'll properly randomize the new missions across all mods, instead of just scripting it to show off ABA enemies. I originally ran ABC+ mainly for the increased pod size, but I can do that manually with DABFL settings anyway.

This is a cautionary tale about being too clever for your own good. You managed to evade several patrolling Advent pods only to end up on the roof of a building surrounded on three sides by 11 enemies. And although the ensuing firefight was quite entertaining, it was not an optimal ambush. Several tactical mistakes were made, leaving three soldiers gravely wounded, and only a clutch overwatch shot near the end of the mission with an improbable max damage prevented a potentially life ending flank shot on a marked victim. I'm sure the squad has given you the call sign "Grave Digger". At 43:00 minutes the mission summary shows 4 soldiers wounded, but in the Barracks I only saw three. Was it counting the Scientist who tanked an overwatch? Not clear from this mission if you are very lucky, or really good. Am surprised you chose not to play Long War of the Chosen. I have had many epic fails in my current campaign. I think my squad hates me! Cheers.

Yeah, it counted the wound on the scientist. I could always be lucky and good! But yeah, catastrophically bad engagement. From there it's a lot of making the best of the bad situation (barring missing the possible window flank. whoops). I'm interested in playing LWotC some day, but it's really just very different from a heavily modded xcom campaign. The main reason I went for a heavily modded setup instead of a LWotC core was because of a (possibly now inaccurate) lingering distaste for the strategy layer of the original LWotC. It felt like it had a lot going on that didn't really add to the game, and playing it well took a lot of time and attention away from the part of the game I'm interested in (The tactical layer).
