As a persian, i wanna thank you for this video, I dont know what we would do without the international community keeping the ancient Persian history alive . unfortunately we have some scholars who are betrying the Persian history by trying to demolish the Persian identity and even erace the Persians from their own history. I wont mention their names right now ,but if they and their students keep trolling and spamming bs regarding the ancient Persian identity, then I wouldnt hesitate from mentioning them all over the YT, since they so hardley are trying to put a nationalistic face

If you are Persian you know very well that contrary to this videos which repeats the word “divine” like 50 times, Xerxes never claimed to be God or have any claims to godliness. His campaigns had nothing to do with religion, he couldn’t care less about spreading Zoroastrianism and the construction of Persepolis started during his father’s reign and it’s main purpose was to be a place for celebrating national festivals like Nowruz, which predate Zoroastrianism by thousands of years.

@@som1980 Its not about this movie (300), which was based on a comic book ,it was never claimed to be a historical movie to begin with .This movie was politically based by Hollywood ,it lacks scientific value. I had to thank the owner of this channel for taking time distinguishing fiction from reality for the viewers. That being said , I dont know which one is more harming to the Persian history , movies like this , or the online " sabotage maffia team " ( that I dont want to mention right now) who are all over the internet , commenting and asking for the Persian identity to be delibirately neglected in Persian-related history movies and documentries . These ppl have no shame telling video makers to ditch the ancient NATIVE name of Persia / Pars or Persian / Parsa from its own history ??? The nerve of these ppl spreading lies when there are basic facts out there ? These ppl have gone so far spreading these lies ,that I have to prove to non-Iranians that "yes our kings called themselves Parsi/ Parsa in their inscriptions " , and yes we do accept and use Greek sources as reliable references in scholary work ,we are not idiots .

Xerxes was just as Democratic as were the Greeks, maybe more because he freed slaves but the Spartans treated them just as the NAZIs. Democracy for most but not all meant freedom for Greeks only but looked on others as barbarians hence "zenophobia". He freed the jews in Babylon and rebuilt the temple etc.
@Soap_bubbles591

King Xerxes ( Persians in general) were not followers of Athenian democracy , and neither were the Spartans ( who later in history allied with the Persians btw). Both of them were ruled as monarch societies . Also I think you're confusing king Xerxes with his grandfather Cyrus the great . Yes, he freed all the slaves of Babylon, including the native mideastern Jewish ppl who were oppreseed back then and Cyrus the great being raised by Persian/ Zoroastrian values supported those oppressed. Still, I don't think comparing ancient Greco/ Persian relations has anything to do with the www2 or recent events, considering the fact that the wwII events occurred as a result of internal European economical / political disputes .

You are right but I will compare NAZI and Spartans social behavior/ Never said they followed Athenian Democracy )Spartans also claimed Democracy but both had slaves and women were treated differently. Only a loose comparison between Greek Democracy and Naziism. @@Soap_bubbles591

Hmmmm, learned a few things. Biggest question though is how much of this was AI. The artwork looks AI and while more fluid than I'm used to, the vocals are obviously AI because of how it repeatedly mangles the name Xerxes in different ways that no human would do lol. Even the closed captioning appears AI. It was entertaining though but it just seems that too much AI was used and the only thing other than the video clips might be the second voice asking questions in the video. The 3D effect made me wonder where I put my 3D glasses lol.

The number of soldiers of King Xerxes was 100,000 to 200,000, not 1 million. Later, the reason for King Xerxes' attack goes back to the time of Darius I, and at that time, the Greeks revolted at the borders of Iran, and Darius attacked Greece for revenge, but the world did not see that opportunity. Nadade died naturally and King Xerxes continued his path, although he did not decide to attack at first, but his entourage provoked him.

An amazing amount of historical fact. Lots of obscure information, little known to those of us who are not history lovers. But, with all the preparation and research that must have gone into the elaboration of this video, just a little more care should have been given to pronunciation. The battle of King Leonidas and his valiant 300 Spartans took place at thermopylae, pronounced thur ma pee lay, a Greek work meaning hot gates. (Thermo = hot & pylae = gates). And King Xerxes pronounced zurk zees. Also, the Zoroastrian god was Ahura Mazda pronounced aaa who ra mazda. Not to put too fine a point on it, but these little things enhance the video for history buffs.

@ReyRLopez
@ReyRLopez 6 ай бұрын
The genius secret of the battle of Thermopylae is that Leonidas chose to face an enormously superior force in a very narrow strip, effectively negating the power of numbers. This, because they could only field as many men as could stand shoulder to shoulder, so you could not send a thousand men, you were limited to the available breadth of the land strip. So, even though Xerxes sent his elite immortals into battle, their effectiveness was limited to the number of men who could stand side by side on the narrow strip of land the Spartans chose to defend. Were it not for the betrayal by Ephialtes, who knows how long they could have held them off. As it was, it gave the Greek states time to prepare.
@moonman3030

the part you neglected to mention is that this strategy was 50 years in the making, because of the fact that they needed a superior navy to make it happen. the politician, havning foresight into these military things, recognized that xerxes was bound to come to them. convinced the politicians that they needed money to build ships for trade to booster the economy, instead, used the money to build battleships, that afforded the strategy that was used.

Even though I hate war and bloodshed and I love purity and innocent beautiful people, I still think they did a really good job playing the characters and getting the correct people into those roles, Id believe they were in another lifetime during those periods defiantly and can see that!!! @som1980 Here is the Daiva reference : King Xerxes says: when I became king, there was among these countries one that was in rebellion. Ahuramazda bore me aid. By the grace of Ahuramazda I smote that country and put it down in its place. And among these countries there was a place where previously demons (daiva) were worshipped. Afterwards, by the grace of Ahuramazda I destroyed that sanctuary of demons, and I proclaimed: 'The demons shall not be worshipped!' Where previously the demons were worshipped, there I worshipped Ahuramazda at the proper time and in the proper manner. And there was other business that had been done ill. That I made good. That which I did, all I did by the grace of Ahuramazda. Ahuramazda bore me aid until I completed the work. The "Daiva " or diiv ha ( in Persian ) , Deos / Zeos were probably proto-indo-european gods commonly worshipped by the Greeks( the Greek pantheon ) and Scythians( Iranic eastern-speaking nomads ) ,Apparently by this time, the Persians had past these proto-indo-european gods into a monotheistic era and an Indo-eropean religion called Zoroastrianism . But the sungod Mithra and Anahita were once again worshipped during the Artaxerxes II ruling period.

Xerxes: There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories! Every piece of Greek parchment shall be burned. Xerxes: It is not the lash they fear, It is my divine power. Why, uttering the very name of Sparta, or Leonidas, will be punishable by death! The world will never know you existed at all!

The Achaemenid Empire were white and not olive skinned. If you read his father's tombstone. It reads. I am Darius the Great, I am King of Kings, King of Countries, I am Persian and I am Ayrian. Iran means I am Ayrian. My wife is Persian and her family has worked for the royal family for 2,500 years until the revolution. Her surname means, I will lay my life down for my King no matter what the circumstances are. I'm Australian but like to believe I'm an expert on Persian history because of my interest she told me everything. She is Zoroastrian and went to a Zoroastrian school. Also her grandma was an illegitimate daughter of the crown Prince of Persia the Qasars of Isfahan Persia now Iran. Her grandmother had blond hair blue eyes and all the ancient Persian poetry talks of their flowing blonde hair until the Muslim conquest that saw every woman and child raped that darkened their hair and skin but Xeroxes was Ayrian for sure like his father as Darius was a proud Ayrian and so would have had Ayrian wives

Iranian history according to Greek chroniclers is what *ALL* these so-called historical accounts should be titled. These stories are almost as fictional as the *The Ilias and The Odyssey* . The so-called Persians of the day never *EVER* called themselves Persians. They called themselves Ariya (Iranian), but since our only account of these events come from Greeks, they called them what ever they wanted to call them. We don't get the Iranian's take on what really happened, so we don't truly know the details of these events. But here's what I believe I can promise, the depiction of the Iranian Emperor known as Xerxes in that Sci-fi movie known as *300* is absolutely false...

As an Iranian/ Persian I have to disagree with everything you said ,you need to educate yourself. First of all we have tons of Achaemenid inscriptions. , Persians called themselves Parsa / Arya .This is just one of the tens of inscriptions where Persians refer to themselves as the Parsa 🔴Darius the great Naqshe-Rustam inscription : 2. (8-15.) I am Darius the Great King, King of Kings, King of countries containing all kinds of men, King in this great earth far and wide, son of Hystaspes, an Achaemenian, a Persian, son of a Persian, an Aryan, having Aryan lineage. 🔴pahyâ \ puça \ Haxâmanišiya \ Pârsa \ P ârsahyâ \ puça \ Ariya \ Ariya \ ci ça \ thâtiy \ Dârayavauš \ xšâya thiya \ vašnâ \ Auramazdâhâ \ imâ \ dahyâva \ tyâ \ adam \ agarbâyam \ apataram \ hacâ \ 👉Pârsâ \ adamšâm \ patiyaxšayaiy \ manâ \ bâjim \ abara ha \ tvašâm \ hacâma \ athahya \ av

Also , NO the reason Greek historians have reported the Persian history with so much accuracy is that as our Indo-european cousins they were the closest to us sharing the Anatolian Indo-european background as a mutual past in the Anatolian Greco-Persian inhabited lands, according to Greek ( indo-european ) mythology ,the Persians are descendants of Perseus ,Perses and Achae, this Greek mythology was from a time when the proto-indo-europeans were living together , Persians are also mentioned in Hittie inscriptions as the Parsua, and in sanskrit documents as the Parsu

@fbakay4700, I gave you references .This movies is not based on Greek reports (as you claimed,)it's based on a comic book called 300. Most of it is zionist inspired and politically based by ppl like Zack snyder , to tell you the truth, I don't know which is more damaging to the Persian history, movies like this or those uninformed ppl denying the Persian existance on the net .

@@fbakay4700 I dont know who gave you the impression that the Greek reports and historians are dissed by Iranian scholars??? We use them as references on daily basis at academic levels. You are so clueless about our history that you're here claiming that the Persians only called themselves Arya and the Persian identity is based on the Greek misunderstanding of what our ancestors called themselves???? Wtf where did you even get that ? We have Persian inscriptions and you have no clue? Yet you're here arguing with me?
