Hi. I am a senior living with a collector (hoarder). I have to do my decluttering when he is not around! I find your videos inspiring and have been listening in the evening and very slowly working away at all the excess stuff around me. I must admit that I have plenty of clutter of my own. When I open a drawer that I have decluttered and it looks so nice, I am inspired to keep it that way and continue my journey. Thank you:) and wish me luck:)

I finally went through 6 giant containers of photos last summer. It took a couple of weeks but I narrowed it down to 4 smallish medium containers labeled for my two grown sons, one for my youngest son’s children who live with us and one for my husband and myself. The bins are labeled. It was a difficult undertaking but I had been avoiding it for years and felt such relief when it was done!

Wow, the "special occasion" dresses I kept in my closet as jewels for years! I finally donated them a women's shelter in Downtown Los Angeles. Also, a brand new luggage set I never used as it was fantasy self item. I donated the luggage too to the shelter as it was taking up real estate in my closet. Hence, I thought after college, I'd have this glamorous international job and bought luggage. Well, I work for Los Angeles County and serve people here so travel is out. I gave away my specialty kitchen appliances and cookware: A stand up Kitchen Aid, Le Creuset cookware, duplicate gadgets, pans, cookbooks so many and it feels liberating! Such a comforting channel. Thank you!

I understand what you mean about the fantasy self with the luggage. I have 1 large one that’s actually too heavy once it’s filled for me to handle even on wheels. 😂 used only once.

@@sct4040 Once I donated that luggage set to the women's shelter, I had more real estate in my closet. It feels good to have the space:) I hope a woman who is starting a new life and needs to move to a new city or state is using that luggage set

It’s a video. Why should a PDF be provided? It defeats the purpose of a video.
@MadisonBriggsArtchick10 ай бұрын
@@LaurieHeatherGoldstein Many You Tubers I watch have downloadable budget forms, checklists, etc. It doesn’t defeat the purpose of the video at all, it enhances it, in my opinion. Like a takeaway from a class you may have taken . . . it helps to jog your memory and give you an outline to follow.

Very practical video with the bonus of seeing some of your wedding and family photos! So inspiring! I took a paper grocery store bag and filled it up in less that 20 minutes and tossed it out. Just the weight and heft of that bag made me realize by how much I lightened the load in our home and lives. Thank you and please keep the videos coming, Angela! I look forward to Tuesday mornings!

This may be a bit shocking but in the last 12 months I got rid of over 300 pieces from my walk-in wardrobe. I never realised how much I hoarded clothes, shoes and bags. I went from 200 shoes down to 12. And 30 bags down to 2. I still have too many clothes, but I am going thru them slowly now. It is so freeing to have much less.

Lol. I should go check the donate box and see how many I have so far already. Although some of that was from March. 😅😅 Granted I did buy some things that were replacements for older or other things to get rid of. I think tho that I may have gotten rid of more than I brought in at least. Lol. Strangely I seem to realize more that needs to go whenever I bring in something like a “thrift store haul.” For the kitchen, I will get creative about “what to eat” based on “iffy” food. People def have joked about my “iron stomach” lol. If it’s not rotten, I’ll prob find a way to eat it or freeze it. Lol. No telling what I’d be eating on any given day, but it feels good to MacGyver it and not let it go to waste. But I guess that’s my life anyways. Reverse meal planning based on deals and if the freezer is full, it’s time to start eating that up. (Or esp with the cats lol. Cooking a big batch of meat or boiling a whole chicken). A whole chick takes a huge amount of space in the freezer. But most days “what to eat” is usually based on what’s about to go bad or has a shorter shelf life. Lol. And strangely that helps me eliminate a lot of decision fatigue, as I feel I then have a good reason to eat this or that first. Well I found a really nice “chef whisk” at the thrift store. So after I try it out, I’ll see if it’s “the gold standard” and decide which one I’m keeping. Lol. (Same goes for a new pan I got. I was long overdue some “upgrades”).
@ArrowHillCottage10 ай бұрын
I think you and my kids could go toe to toe on the iron stomach challenge! Ha ha! And hey…maybe not a bad idea to go through and count how many items you have in your donate bin from March! I’m always kind of shocked when I count them up! ❤️
@goodenoughgirl810210 ай бұрын
@@ArrowHillCottage 😂😂 lol on the food. Well it’s only about 30 so far in the box, but I DID take a bunch of stuff off a couple weeks ago already. 😬 (And I hadn’t really done anything else with it since, except for the one day. Lol). Not sure if I could find 30 each day (900 lol) but it might be interesting to at least track it and count it all up after a month of paying more attention to it nearly every day. Lol.

In 2017 I signed my home over to my "on the spectrum" and very intelligent friend. He wants me to continue living here for He does not like change. Even after over 10 years of minimalism guidance,He keeps everything even faded receipts. It is OK for Him but I do plan to leave. He is comfortable in Chaos and I am at Peace only in a minimal space.

Hopefully he will be understanding of your decision. It would be very difficult to continue living together if you have such different views on clutter ❤️
