The Tuscan company offers two alternatives to race in the premier class, but which one to choose? RX450 therefore four-stroke or RX300 therefore two-stroke? We asked ourselves and tried to get an impartial judge to answer: the track
For those who want to compete in the premier motocross class, Betamotor offers not one but two valid alternatives. The fact is that the first is a four-stroke and the second is a two-stroke. The dilemma has therefore been served: which one to choose between the RX450 and the RX300? This is the question we asked ourselves and to which we tried to give an answer by taking them directly to their habitat, the track. We put them to the test on the Chieve track between canals, holes, panettone and doubles.
The 450 has received only small updates such as the introduction of risers with anti-vibration, a rear wheel axle increased by 2 millimeters, to increase rigidity, and a revised suspension setting. On the 300, however, Beta's technicians have worked really hard to make a bike that in previous model years still had some similarities with its enduro sister a "cross focus" in all respects. For this 2025, therefore, a completely new engine with revised thermal, new cylinder, more compressed head and modified exhaust, signed HGS. The frame is also new, much more similar in sections to the one used on the 450 and, finally, it shares with the latter the entire rear end, therefore, subframe, air box and filter. In addition, on the RX300 come all the new features that we also find on the 4-stroke sister.
Two bikes that are similar at first glance but with a different character. Both engines impressed us for their elasticity and ease of riding, think that we used the same ratios in the same curves on both bikes. Clearly the strong point of the 450 is the delivery, more electric than the 2T, which always takes you out of the curve well even with a hint of gas. The 300, on the other hand, excels in lightness and agility of riding, it feels like riding a downhill bike because it is so narrow and quick to enter curves. And then there is the racing factor, both are lined up in MX1, the premier class, and we also put them to the test with the stopwatch. Which one did we ride faster? Find out in the video!
