Excellent collection. I have an interesting denarius Vitelius 69 years old with a handshake on the reverse

How did the ancients achieve such high relief on the portraits; were the slugs red hot when they were hammer struck?
@originalskincoins Жыл бұрын
Yep, they were struck while heated. Also, modern coins made for general circulation are purposely designed to be low-relief for more cost-effective production (the dies last longer before wearing down).

@@originalskincoins That and nearly pure metals make for high relief.

Mate this is better than porn you got so much for $3000 I am about to start looking for the exact coins you have displayed so I can feel history in my hand. Thank you for this video i have subbed and want more Legend.. Can you give me advice on how to start without getting cleaned out by fakes etc
@originalskincoins9 ай бұрын
Thanks man! Fakes are tough in the ancients world because coins were not made with precision, so there's a ton of variability even among authentic coins. Honestly, you'll just get a sense of fakes over time by seeing enough ancient coins. I'd recommend looking at coins on auction houses like Roma Numismatics or CNG to get a sense of what real ancient coins look like (you can focus on something like Roman imperial denarii), then google "Forum Ancient Coins fakes" and start to look through that - it's a community-curated photo gallery of hundreds of fake ancient coins.
