Not to make excuses for shitty driving, but BMW indicator stalks were of a stupid design for most of the last two decades. They don't latch and as the internal stops wear out, it's not impossible for a miscalculated release of the indicator stalk to cause it to spring back in the opposite direction and cancelling them manually is a nightmare. Not something you'd ever do if you were actually paying attention, though. They put the same design of indicator stalk in MINIs in the F5x cars initially and the response was so awful they went back to latching ones within a few years. I noticed the loaner 2 series I had a while back also had a latching stalk so whilst it may have taken them a long time to admit it was a bad idea (I think it probably started on the E6x cars and ended with the first G-coded models) they did get there in the end. I've noticed that indicator usage in the UK is almost universally awful regardless of car brand in one area though - almost nobody can be arsed to indicate off of roundabouts. At worst, they're still indicating right as they take their exit so you're just sat there with no clue whether approaching traffic is going further round as you approach.

I had a e60 BMW in New Zealand. I loved that car but any fault or repair was cripplingly expensive. Ie electronic steering lock. Starter motor failed at 194k kilometers. I could just barely afford to fix it. After that I reluctantly sold it. Driving a Honda is not the same at all but I feel less anxiety about what will fail next.
@pabloportilla92952 жыл бұрын
That’s preposterous mate! Brake lines on those rovers are easy peasy, don’t need to drop no subframe or fuel tank, back in my Land Rover tech career I could get a set of rear brake lines fitted in less than 3 hours, that includes bleeding the air off the rear lines. Range rovers and land rovers are super easy to work on as long as the right tools are used. They are Ford/bmw mismatch parts after all.

Thanks for more laughs. Really appreciate you taking time to honor the crew of the B-29 crash. Hadn't specifically heard of it before now. Ironically, today is my last day working with the Air Force here in San Antonio Texas as a civilian. A Marine Corps Veteran myself, I can tell you how very impressed I've been with the people I've worked with in the USAF. They're really an amazing group of warriors. And the AFSOC guys told me some wild stories from their time in Afghanistan. Of course my last day is even better because I'm moving on to NAS Pensacola to make training videos for new Sailors and Marines as they learn aircraft maintenance and mechanics. (And Pensacola has an excellent beach. Meanwhile I've told the city council in San Antonio to rename the city, El Scorcho. I like it warm, but 60+ days of triple digit heat is ridiculous!) BTW, I rode a rollercoaster called Goliath at Six Flags Atlanta once for over an hour without getting off. The park had emptied after a rain storm. And the staff was OK with people switching seats if someone was in line for the seat you were occupying. Caught a huge buzz of the accumulated g-forces.

I have an E60 530i. Overall, a fantastic car. Just a few things piss me off about it though: - No engine temp gauge. - iDrive is shit. To change the centre-vent temperature, you have to do a dozen iDrive clicks and turns. In the E39 you just turn the thumbwheel by the vent. - When you get low on fuel, it turns the clock off. You're not allowed to see what the time is when you have fewer than 30 miles remaining. - Turning the centre screen off doesn't turn the centre screen off. - Interior quality is worse than E39's.
