Heres a thought. Why dont you have meetings directly with the victims of your 'boys' everytime you have an offence. Because you would turn away in disgust and proably become a monk.

it’s 154,000 per year to keep someone in custody not 300k. jailing these kids is a last resort for the judges, they will give offenders repeated chances to make changes outside of a custodial sentence, ccos exist and are effective for people who actually want to make changes.

it’s not retribution it’s punishment which is one of the underlying purposes of sentencing. punishment, deterrence, denunciation and protection of the community are not less important than rehabilitation. what’s backwards is thinking that it’s unfair to punish or keep the community safe from people who engage in repeated or serious violent criminal acts. underage offenders don’t get locked up unless they’ve engaged in criminal activity either repeatedly or if it involves significant violence. it also doesn’t make much sense to say that having a massive over representation of south sudanese people in your program is because of the trauma of changing country and not having family when and nothing to do with being sudanese. if they weren’t south sudanese then they wouldn’t be dealing with that trauma of changing countries so clearly it has something to do with being from south sudan. you’re not helping to solve the issues when you refuse to accept the fact that this specific group of people are disproportionately offending. youth justice workers are not there to advocate to keep people out of custody, they are there to help them try and make positive changes and support them when they are released. the victims are the people that have these crimes committed against them not the people running around committing the crimes.

Jps. Tried that shit. Doesn't work. Top down economics don't work. Smart gets sorted into smart. Art into art. Stabz needs flesh to stab. It's older than we can see
