23,500 miles in 3 1/2 years ownership. What has the Jimny been like to live with and off road?

I must admire how well preserved you have your jimmy. I bought mine in march 2023 and it has been through the ringer and it has held up very nice. Is my daily driver and I love it. If you accessorize the interior it becomes even better.

Nice to have a thorough review from a UK user. I have an SZ5 with 57000 miles on it. No problems so far. Great little car.

33:40 I got the throttle controller from Torqit in Australia. It’s a great product. Torqit a family business and as soon as I paid them the sales person was no longer responding to my mails. Jerk. But the controller is great! When I got it I set it in its highest mode, which turned out to be way too much for my kind of driving. I tried the other modes too and settled for ‘Intelligent Mode’. That’s the mode that learns my driving style and delivers power accordingly. Another thing is that the controller has an antitheft mode which disconnects the accelerator. This was a dealbreaker for me and I use that feature every day.

I paid 20k AUD for my Jimny brand new in 2015. The Jimny is now 35k and my 10-year-old Jimny is still worth around 20k. Crazy how prices have exploded.

31:27 I have the tunnel tray from Jim’s Jimny in Australia. It’s machined out of one piece of walnut and designed to cope with the low range leaver in the low range location without popping out.

I have the throttle controller on mine and find it softens the response in eco mode. I think it's harder to stall and definitely an improvement 👍

Bei House make one of the nicest rear bumpers if you can get your hands on one. Uses factory lights, has recovery points and a hitch receiver.

52:01 Ironman is a great company who takes pride in environmental topics which I do too. I got their shocks only as I don’t want a lift kit. The handling improvement was massive and exactly what I was looking for. I agree on their website and customer service though. They have a great opportunity of improvement on those.

1:12:26 80 liter tank … not for me. It’s too expensive and where I am there are plenty of petrol stations. My opinion will be a 20L jerrycan fitted low to my rear ladder. Not ideal but way better considering the money spent.

Recommend you get those rear defogger guards from jimny style

Does that front bumper increase the safety of a vehicle from any car crash? Or is it just for design? Ps.ur jimny is beautiful, job well done on the modifications sir.

All very informative, just wondering if you use E5 or E10 fuel. ??
@300bhpton Жыл бұрын
I’ve been using normal E10 95RON fuel. There is a label inside the filler door saying E10 is suitable.

If it’s any consolation, the Australian Jimny forums are full of dealer service complaints too. I’ve been dealing with two good dealerships here in NZ.

Who are these dealers? Winger Auckland?
@swampgrampus9 ай бұрын
@@garywillis8737 we bought it from Palmerston North Eurocar Suzuki. They were friendly and not pushy. We get it serviced in Lower Hutt at Brendon Foote Suzuki. They have been good. They installed the kit to stop the ubiquitous JB74 front diff noise as soon as I mentioned the problem.

Hi, can you share your experience with the new (upsize) tires? It’s 215/75-15 right? I’m between 215/75-15 and 225/75-15
@300bhpton Жыл бұрын
215/75R15 is a direct fit on stock suspension. Works well IMO. They are heavier than the stock tyres, which I noticed in acceleration a bit, but you soon get used to the new norm. In the UKk there is no choice of 225/75 tyres, so I can't comment. The next size up would be a 235/75R15 which is quite a bit bigger.

No brainer for me, 215/75-15 will be my choice Thanks

@@300bhpton Your experience of dealers has been similar to ours, the first dealer l went to about 7 miles away didn't show much interest when l enquired about the new Jimny then l heard not long after that they went bust so l visited another dealer a similar distance away left a deposit and took delivery 13 months later, they went bust about 18 months later, l found a new dealership had opened not far from the first one so payed them a visit, not impressed. What is it with Suzuki dealers. l think the build quality is pretty poor, the paint finish is not brilliant and in some places there is no top coat, namely under the bonnet and areas of the chassis, rust protection is zero and already a problem in a lot of areas, mainly the chassis, axles and radius arms. Whilst l've found offroad ability is okay one thing that is poor is engine breaking in low 1st due to a high low range transfer gear, hopefully soon to be rectified. l feel l should have replaced the chassis on my Land Rover!!
