I think some of the folks discussing BPM etc, are kind of missing the value of the video. It provides a slo-mo close up that can really help drummers trying to learn! Great job!!

Anyone who can play above 300 bpm paints their sticktips to be matchsticks. Nice!

I cant tell whether youre joking or not, but those are the Vic Firth Metal nylon sticks. The nylon tips are red, thats part of the design.

It might also be the kind of sticks you’re using. I usually use system blue sticks whenever I play. But there’s this NICE pair called FS-JC- Jim Casella sticks. They are super nice, light and they are FUN to use

@MG that gives me hope man. I started practicing every single day for 1 to 6 hours per day ever since covid hit. The process has been amazing. I am just now starting to learn how to blast. I had to get basic drum rolls and rudiments down first.

There's another video on my channel that explains this technique in some detail, especially for pushing past speed walls in your playing. Keep practicing, it took a lot of time to get this technique down, but its worth the work.

I’m pretty decent at that with my right hand and it came kinda naturally, but how do I work on that technique with my left hand? Every time I try I can’t even do it since it’s so sloppy
@bobbirdsong68253 жыл бұрын
Start with quarter notes at 60 bpm, make sure you have good spacing between each one. It should be exactly on the beat. Increase when you can play for a minute with perfect timing by 5, until you reach 80. After that, only increase it by 2 bpm each time. Keep trying until you can make it consistent, and make sure you're hitting the same spot consistently with the same grip

Gravity blasts are also very easy compared to a regular blast.
@juliosapere80103 жыл бұрын
@@MikeyBeDrumming ya I learned it's a good way to stay fast and rest the funny thing is it actually helps keep you rolling and you can do more with your other instead of using 2 for rolls
@MikeyBeDrumming3 жыл бұрын
@@juliosapere8010 True. I suck at regular blast beats. Maybe gravity blasts were easy for me because I started out doing orchestral percussion and all that so buzz rolls were there from the start

Opens up possibilities in indépendance and coordination, having fast 16th note going on with only one hand keeps the other one free, then your imagination is your limit

One of my old drum teachers had a great saying that I always remembered- "It's better to have the tools and not need them, than to need the tools and not have them". Everything you learn in terms of technique, chops, groove, co-ordination etc is making you a better drummer. Do you need to use this speed all the time? Nope, but having the capability can unlock a whole heap of options that normal drummers are unable to do.
