Hi Mike. I love problem solving and it seems that you always have to do a lot of that too. Love your videos but couldnt quite understand how you "caught 2 birds with 1 stone". Wasn't only the valve squeeking? What else that was making the car less responsive? So curious now....

Why they put the valves so difficult to get to :-) Seriously , do you think it could had stop by it self , or getting worse over time ? hence other shops would just say : Oh it just needs to run it in.... Good tip with the petrol.

Well done Mike . An interesting investigation , but can you say hat caused the valve or guide failure .... was it part quality ? And why dont people like blue silicon pipes ? I thought they were an upgrade on rubber hose , I understand the colour clashes with convention and the classical look though ? Would you believe we had snow in November here in the UK south west this year .....well we had half an inch , causing mayhem of course ! Lol .
@BritannicaRestorations18 күн бұрын
No idea what caused it. Why only one? Silicone hoses are OK and you can get them in black - excellent for breather pipes where rubber deteriorates

@666gwp19 күн бұрын
At least it was a definite thing in the end but strange the valve and guide sort of seem ok, you would think it would have a tight spot to make the squeak. You will be glad to see that drive off into the sunset anyway. Time for a Jameson's I think lol.

Would be interesting to see if you put that valve in another engine to see if it squeaks?
@kinnellian18 күн бұрын
If It was me, and I didn't have any spares and didn't want to spend money, I might have swapped the valve into different ports in the same engine - there's a chance it wouldn't squeak in one of them. If a swapped valve started squeaking it would point to the guide and not the valve as the problem, and if the original kept squeaking then it was the valve. Of course that takes time (and possibly a slight regrinding of two valve seats) I think Mike had understandably run out of both time and patience for that.
@chrispig774818 күн бұрын
@ yeah good idea, perhaps something just out of tolerance
