You blasting some "Freewill," what an awesome confirmation that I'm at the right place! What memories!! Imagine driving on this bridge in a semi trailer. I did it for years. So did my husband. A crazy nail biter for sure! You just better held the wheel for dear life and stay in your lane and pray no one crossed over into your lane.

I get massive panic attacks on this. And always from MD to VA. I get this terrible head pressure I can't control and desperately wanna get out.

Marvin Santana Yeah, and sadly I take the long way from where I live in King George through the Woodrow Wilson bridge to Waldorf where family is, just to avoid this lol.

I crossed this bridge once. I’ll sit in traffic on 95 for days before I’ll do it again.

This bridge no longer exists. It has been replaced by a 4 lane divided span and is much safer now.

When bridges like this scares people, they need to find another to travel from MD. to VA. It would be safer for other drivers.

I went over on motorcycle in 2002. And there was a cross wind of about 25mph. No video expresses the terror.

Route 1 would be a better way to go from MD. to Va.

All I can say is good riddance. It was a garbage bridge in the 90s. 301 itself is the worst road I've ever driven in the state of Maryland.

My family traveled on this bridge all the time en route to and from visiting relatives in Concord, NC. It is a great alternate route until you encounter the occasional Nice Bridge impasse four to 10-mile traffic jams from VA to MD (such as July 7, 2002) that usually happen at the end of Fourth of July weekends.

Used to drive over this all the time... Going from MD to VA is alot easier for me than driving from VA to MD! My knuckles are totally white by the time you reach the peak :(

NICE JOB ;-) Yes, I have been over the NICE BRIDGE many times and very scary when there is nothing dividing the traffic. I was going to video this, HOWEVER, you did exactly what I would have done. THANKS FOR SHARING. A NOTE: When at the peak, I always make the statement, "What would happen if the bridge decided to break." just to keep me calm, once in a while, "What would happen if a big semitruck came out of his lane while I was at the top." Yes, the point is, NOT SUCH A NICE BRIDGE ;-)

I don't CARE that the Governor is named NICE - this bridge is anything BUT NICE; it is WORSE than the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (which I drove across at *night* for my first major bridge crossing).

I think most of the people leaving comments here suffer from Panic Disorder. The visual effects of crossing the bridge, not imminent danger, scares them.
