This is the background music for most of the areas in the Bountiful Woods. The cue's total length is 4:20. In the actual game, after playing entirely through, it jumps back to 1:44 and then plays through till the end and keep this cycle up. But for this MIDI sound recording:

This is the official release of this soundtrack made in full conjunction with Neal Grandstaff and Mark Seibert, and licensed by Neal Grandstaff (www.nealgrandst...) and published for the first time through XeenMusic (copyrighted 2020). It was composed almost entirely by Neal Grandstaff in 1994, with additional editing and several compositions by Dan Kehler, and the opening and ending sequences by Jay Usher and Mark Seibert, and several SFX by Richard Spurgeon (as well as the customary Sierra Logo Fanfare by Ken Allen).
The music, having originally been composed using the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55, has been recorded directly from the original MIDI files using an authentic SC-55. Due to the hardware limitations of the SC-55 causing polyphony problems, if necessary, each channel has been recorded independently and then merged into a single track. Therefore, no notation data is lost through polyphony limitations and the tracks may be heard at their fullest.

My absolute favorite tune in the entire series of KQ that I played. (skipped out on 8) So serene, so wonderful and so peaceful; yet it has a hint of sadness and longing in there. Which is perfect for the area. Thank you for uploading

One of my favorites too, a definite highlight. (Since you mentioned KQ8... We're in process of doing a complete soundtrack for that game too... There's a little delay in getting more DAT tapes transferred, though we already have some of it transferred, such as finally being able to hear the movie music clean without SFX!)

@@groommiser26 I'm glad you asked. I actually have not released it yet. But... It will actually be posted in a few days. While we were able to locate quite a bit of original material, we were not able to locate the originals of everything, so some things still had to be extracted from the game's data (leaving it as 22hz wav). But we have all the cutscene music without SFX, and a few unreleased and demo tracks.

@@XeenMusic That's awesome! Question - was there a lot of demo or unreleased tracks? Asking because I know the game was in development for 3 1/2 years and went through 3-4 revised (completely different) designs/versions (some of which differ WILDLY from the final product)

No, there's unfortunately not a lot. I think all the music by Ben and Kevin was not composed until it was in the last phase of development. It seems that Sierra usually did not compose music for a title until development was near finished. Kevin Manthei did the main theme, the major ambient pieces, ending battle, and the movie sequences. What he composed was done between April 1997 and September 1998. I don't have specific dates of Ben's music. It seems that they commissioned them to due music as certain areas of the game were completed. I myself was hoping that some unused music from the "Dwarf Underground" or "Ice World Dungeon" or somewhere else would term up, but there's nothing like that listed anywhere in Kevin's project files or DAT tapes, etc. So I have no idea if a different composer worked on music while the game was in another phase of development teams.

One of my favorites too, if not my favorite piece from this game. Judging by the number of views of this video, which is one of the most-viewed on the channel, most others must feel the same about it too. I worked directly with the primary composer Neal Grandstaff on this, so that's how we have all the extra unreleased and alternate tracks.

I was always curious as to where the loop section began, as this piece is composed as a Baroque-style set of variations on a ground bass. I could listen forever and not realize the music has looped. Where is the loop point in the game version of this theme?

@@XeenMusic So it has an inner and outer loop. No wonder they cut it. Even with the cut, it is unlikely that most players stay long enough on the screens where it plays to hear it loop even once.
