You can not own a private house or even townhouse in Thailand except condo, whichever involved owning piece of land.

I dont think foreigners can own a house/land in Thailand. Only condo but only if a percentage of the total units are owned by locals. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

True, but I like the fact the pool will not be collecting bugs and leafs, and being saltwater with minimal sunlight the maintenance should be a breeze. Things deteriorate quickly outdoors in the Land of Smiles.

Actually foreigner can buy house just by signing a land lease which is usually a 20 year lease.
