Best joke I've heard about helicopters is 6000 loose parts flying in formation. 😂
@jimhester12059 ай бұрын
I like the fact that a troop transport can deliver 11 soldiers with equipment, and the 101st can come over the horizon with 50 Blackhawks. My math says that means they can put over 500 men on the battlefield in like 5 minutes. Who the hell is ready for that?
@InstrucTube9 ай бұрын
Man, most places aren't ready for 1 soldier, let alone a battalion. As he's said in other videos, they're basically firing a meat missile at the enemy.

The helicopter's tail rotor counters the main rotor torque. The main rotor tilts in all directions to direct thrust for movement in any, or no direction at all. Thank you, Igor Sikorsky, for coming to America. The Fat Electrician's USS O'Bannon video is the best three minutes on KZbin that doesn't involve cats.

Ever notice that extra propeller on the tail of the helicopter, that creates sideways thrust on the back end to keep the body from spinning under the main rotor.

That rope on a boat was in Tampa. I was working on one of their other yachts. That was fun watching it in person.
@petepetersen28707 ай бұрын
The rope is coiled in a bag so it doesn't get tangled up. One end of the rope is attached to the bird and the bag gets tossed out one door on each side.

The Huey was nam The UH-1H was exported to many countries and is still in service in some of them. However, the Huey was gradually withdrawn from US service, being replaced by the UH-60 Black Hawk and its variants. However, the Marines still operate a heavily modernized variant, the Bell UH-1Y

Check out his videos on the Night Stalkers. There's I think three total. The Night Stalkers, another one where the Night Stalkers steal a Hind, and the one about the Killer Egg. They're fantastic. EDIT: I'm an idiot, and I need more caffeine. They are in fact the Night Stalkers, not the Night Hawks. I happened to see NightHawkInLight in the sidebar as I was typing the comment originally.

You mean the “Night Stalkers”? The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR)?
@henryvandeventer24579 ай бұрын
You're thinking of the Night Stalkers, not Night Hawks. 160th SOAR, aka Task Force Brown. They're the guys that Strategically Transferred Equipment (ie, a Mi-25 Hind, the export version of the Mi-24) to an Alternate Location during Operation Mount Hope III. They fly the Chinook, multiple Blak Hawk variants and the Little Bird, aka the Killer Egg.

No retractable gear on The Blackhawk, also never had skids. The Northern pavehawks have skiis that go over the wheels. There is a version of the UH60 ( blackhawk) specifically for the mavy called the Jayhawk or the Seahawks that has a differant configuration of the landing gear to make it shorter for ship board ops. No the Blackhawk was not in Nam.
