308 Acrylic Pouring A T'Shirt

This is acrylic on a basic t'shirt using DecoArt Fabric Medium (amzn.to/2NRCSVu).
I mix my paints with Floetrol (amzn.to/2BG5kka) and water and put silicone in some of the paint colours.
Most of my paints I use are Reeves fine artist acrylics like these on Amazon amzn.to/2GwJBRC .

Wow,cool! I use fabric paints quite often over the years. I had no idea I could get fabric medium for my paints. That will be way less expensive. I’m going to do this for sure! This is my crazy thought, putting the shirt on the pottery wheel and have it fling out! I am the one as imaginative as you. Can be dangerous! LOL! Lucky girl with such a sweet and thoughtful husband!

Thank you. Yes they are! Instead of pulling the pull tab I open the cans with an edge cutting can opener and the top becomes the lid :) This is an example of what I mean by edge cutting opener amzn.to/2BBzNVs

Hi Gloria, yes it is fun! all your questions depend on many factors, the mix ratio will vary depending on which medium and paints you use. Dry time for me was about 4 days as was thick and sitting on plastic, washed really well, still wearing it 18 months later :)

I wonder if you made a painting on the plastic and stamp your shirt on it. Or use a wet shirt, then the fabric won’t suck up all the moisture from the paint.

I like the way you are thinking Charlene, stamping the tshirt into it would create a totally different result. Part of the paint staying on does require it to absorb into the fibers so it can hold on well. I did dampen with the initial black.

Thank you Shannon :) If you add the fabric medium like I did you just wash them normally. Make sure you flatten the painted area while its still wet from the washer and don't tumble dry.

It feels fine although it is rather thick. Very washable, I wore and washed it LOTS :)

Hi Linda, no I don't put anything on the back although some may find the paint a bit sticky on the skin, due to the positioning and my bust size it doesn't touch my skin. I usually turn inside out to wash but wash just as usual :)

I just wash inside out, I always dry on the line not in the dryer too.
