@HankBaxter lol yes. I will say the small issues are more prevalent in the amd cards since the updates and overall support is less. But it's a brute.

I've been happy with mine as well, i have a screen flicker like 3 or 4 times I play for extended periods, the gpu has caused me grief with setting up apps like obs and video editing software but that's mostly due to just having to learn something new. I have yet to take the time to get VR working with my quest 3 headset. It just wouldn't work most of the time and the time or two I did get it to work. Things just weren't smooth like they were with my 3090. Probably just a setup issue like with the other issues I mentioned.

Maybe it’s just the camera POV, but when you were holding the cards up for comparison and swapping them out your PC case looks half as tall as you are!! 😂

I have been running the 7900xtx for about a year and a half now and it has been a journey. The VR was shit in the beginning but rescent drivers have improved things a lot. AMS 2 works good, Dirt2 runs great as does AC. ACC still is really spotty but I don't think it works well on any card.

It's a great wheelbase if you can find it. They haven't done a production run in a while and they are focusing on the c5 and c12 at the moment.

AMD cards are generally better for basic gaming when considering the price/performance ratio. However, if you're doing something more specialized like VR or triple screen gaming, the advantage can quickly shift in favor of nvidia. I initially had a 6900 XT in this setup and really tried to like it, but it turned out to be impossible since 90% of my gaming time is spent in VR. I eventually switched to a 3080 and many of my issues were resolved. I have always bought cards from both brands and do not consider one brand better than the other. Both have their place, and with nvidia you end up paying extra for certain additional features/drivers.

@@DouglasThompson Oculus has terrible support for amd but most of the issues can be fixed just by going into the debug tool.

I find Nvidia driver updates every other day for games I don't play annoying. If I don't update things seem to not run well.

I only update if I have issues. The drivers from 21 september 2023 seem to be the best still.

Moral of the story, it's yet another poor PC port. That aside, if you want smoothness, try locking the FPS of the card at its baseline (1% lows) or at a framerate of your choice, your brain will adapt to a fixed frame time much easier than ups and downs all the time, you will notice if the game ramps up from 90fps to 120 or 144, then drops back down to 90, but if you lock it at 120 for example, there won't be ups and downs to notice, it will be always stable. Also, if the PC port if botched, even doing that won't save you from stutters, this is when I refund, if the game stutters even with locked frames, it means there is some broken leftover code in the game that the devs didn't bother fixing, the game is not brand new anymore, this shouldn't happen in the first place

I was surprised when my 3090 wasn't able to get a solid 120 with ea wrc. I really don't feel that game should be that demanding based on what I see.

@@DouglasThompson Totally agree, the game actually look quite bad except for some stages and it runs like it looks like real life. This game with it's graphics and weather effects etc should give 200+ fps on max setting. That it doesn't is a joke and I wonder at times if they do this on purpose to help Nvidia to push more sales of new GPU's but it suck. It's like we're not utilizing any of the power in these cards anymore.
