They really should not have said anything in front of Billy. They didn't know he knew and it was up to Paul to tell him. I'm glad he knows and he is there for Paul but they didn't know that.

Billy is a Vicar though so he practices confidentiality. Billy knows it's not his secret to tell. He was waiting for Paul to get the strength to say it himself. Billy wouldn't have told anybody about it until Paul felt ready to. So it was ok Billy knowing about it. David confides in Billy about his rape as well. People feel they can talk to vicars.
