Hi! I had a toilet with removable case to dump anywhere. But being mostly urban or at least not BLM, it was so inconvenient finding places every 3-4 days. Just carrying it around. I let it go in exchange for the bucket and bag method. And it's a small child's sand bucket with a soft rim. It hangs on a hook. Now it's so easy, and emptied every day at least once. Primitive, but functional. Plus, I saved a few feet of space too.

Vanlifer for years here. I'm glad to hear you can make a living on KZbin with under 75,000 subs. Not as easy to do anymore. Digging the new videos on DC Air Conditioners that can be run off solar. Roof units are getting smaller, taking up less roof space. And less wattage. Still expensive. But just starting to see price reductions. So, complete heating and cooling in any environment (even 110° Tucson heat) without shorepower is becoming a reality.

I've been alone quite a bit and have been just fine and even happy alone but I am such a companion type of person. I prefer doing things with someone else and I am really particular about the people in my inner circle. I hate drama and crave peace and good vibes. A lot of people seem to have an inability to regulate their emotions especially when things don't go their way. I don't like that and so I am very particular but yes I prefer having companionship. It's always nice having someone on your side and a teammate. I think it's really cool when couples van.

I'm taking mental notes on the practical questions that you answered-thanks (especially the one about mechanical things.) But mostly what I get from your videos, is that an average person ,of limited mechanical knowledge, should have some basic information, and a nest egg to fall back on and a plan; as well as some common sense. But you also need to be flexible and have a sense of adventure. Also, sort of a check- list that you gotta explore beforehand would help . Oh and there is so much to see in the US alone,so if I never make it to Europe, I would be fine with US travel. Just so much to see and it's very safe. I believe many people want a homebase to go to also who consider van travel.

Wow! I never would have guessed you to be an introverted person. You come across as the opposite in your vids. You seem very outgoing and you’ve got such an engaging personality. I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to viewing them. And, your answer to the last question in this vid made me laugh out loud. 👍🏻👍🏻 Safe travels! Mark 🙂😉🙂

Appreciate that. I think it's easy for an introvert to be outgoing when they are alone making a video. Thanks for the comment.

First, thanks for your service to our country. Really enjoying living vicariously through your adventures. Not something I’m able to do currently but hoping one day to get out on the road and do something similar. Keep the great content coming..... i’ll keep watching.

Love your last comment😁❤️. My dad did 25 years in the Navy, retired then had a second long career as a civil engineer. Thank you for your service. I’m one of those that loves a person in uniform. I’m like you in that I’ve seen more foreign countries than I have states in the USA. Hope to rectify that soon. Happy and safe travels 🇺🇸🚐❤️

Very thoughtful, succinct, and articulate answers to all these questions. My question is "have you ever been injured or ill on the road" that required considerable amount of recovery time. I ask because many moons ago I fell and dislocated my shoulder and we had to layover in Gunstock, New Hampshire for 2 weeks while I was being treated and then return home to Florida for therapy. Had to cancel 2 months worth of reservations in Maine and Canada back in 2001.

I know from previous videos you don't feel like you are much of a "do it yourselfer" - but I, like you, prefer a cassette toilet over a black tank. I had done some research (truck camper) and it's actually a pretty easy swap out. Most of it is self-contained; the cassette is part of the toilet itself, and the hardest part is cutting the hole in the wall of the van. You could then either remove the black tank, or replace the black tank with a new tank and extend your "fresh water" tank - thus allowing you longer hot showers. Or - repipe it as a 'gray tank' depending how you're handling gray water. But swapping a black-tank system to a cassette toilet is really easy - and plenty of youtuber videos on it

Yeah, definitely something I am researching. Would love the ease of dumping and the bigger freshwater tank.
