This is a Sharpness Test of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens mounted on a 30.3 Megapixels Full Frame Camera.

The Full Frame camera that was used: Canon EOS R set at 30.3 Megapixels.
In-camera corrections during testing:
Peripheral illumination correction was turned ON
Distortion corrections was turned OFF
Digitale lens optimizer was turned OFF
Chromatic aberrations corrections was turned OFF
Diffraction correction was turned OFF
The lens was mounted on the Canon EOS R camera using a Canon EF - EOS R Mount Adapter that doesn`t affect image quality because it doesn`t have any optical elements.

My rf 50mm 1.8 has a strange problem.corner sharpness is very soft on the right side of image ,but much better on the left...

I have a similar issue with a used 24-70 f/2.8. Most probably the lens is not centered. Maybe the moving part (that extends while focusing) was hit and that hit slightly displaced the moving part. I recommend taking the lens into a lens repair shop.

@@apertureatlas Unfortunately,it's a brand-new rf 50 1.8,I found the problem at night of the day which I bought that len,and made a sales return next morning...

Yes, better to return it, if possible. Some products 1 out of 100.000 , for example, might have a defect - this might be the unlucky one. Hope you will exchange it with a different one, without issues.

My Canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens looks pretty good on my Canon M6 II at 32.5mp. I use the Viltrox speed booster with it.

I recently purchased a Canon M6 Mark II and I agree, the 50mm looks good on it.
