My husband found out he was HIV positive during a Doctors visit in 1990. We had 2 babies at that time. He was not gay. He traced it back to an old girlfriend before we met. At that time they treated people with AZT. He died 1996. My children and I tested negative- I’m now 67 and my kids are 33 and 35. Heartbreaking to lose a husband / daddy and praising God we dodged a bullet.

I watched a movie called "Les Nuits fauves" in Japan in 1992. This movie was a French movie directed and starring Cyril Collard, but he really died of AIDS shortly after the movie was released.

A book chronicled the start and early days of the AIDS epidemic. I think it was entitled something like The Band Played On. The author was also gay, and he died young in his early 40's. It's a really good read. I was living in Ft. Lauderdale during the 1980s, and our coroner recorded all the deaths caused by this mysterious disease.

Tom McBride was not the Marlboro man. That's Christian Haren, who also died of AIDS.

Most were actors. If you look up their filmographies, you may recognize the shows/movies they appeared in. I thought it was interesting that Paul Shenar showed up four times. He was a handsome man but he was mostly known as a modern Orson Welles because of his voice. He actually played Orson Welles in a movie about the famous broadcast about the invasion from Mars.

I had to turn it off; with 2 gay brothers, I was in a constant state of panic, definitely traumatized by all of it. I will never, ever forget those years. Now, please, tell me how it is even POSSIBLE that 95% of gay men are so so so handsome? They really are.

"We Are the World" was a song to fight African famine. I don't think there was a similar song specifically against AIDS, but many musicians addressed the topic in multiple songs.

@listoholic45075 ай бұрын
@DarthAndredu5 ай бұрын
