Just discovered your channel. Subscribed! Great video. I'm always amazed at model railroaders who spend $$$$ on their layouts, but then construct the benchwork out of construction grade lumber with exposed 2x4 legs. If you're going to spend that much time and money, you should really consider investing in making what the layout is resting on equally good. I went ahead and made full cabinets but even a beginner can make your benchwork shown here. Simple to build (especially with your software tool) but still looks great.

Thanks John for the kind words! It is meant to be easy and fitting for any space! And the system adapts to whatever you have available at your local hardware store. Not everyone has every thickness of plywood readily available.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I think there's nothing worse than seeing an absolutely beautiful layout and as the camera pans back, you see 2 by 4 econo grade raw studs. People spend a small fortune On the layout but the table itself looks horrendous! At least paint it!

Thanks 👍🏻. Good to hear from you. I am working on the operation session now. This benchwork project took a load of time.

Cool design! Anyone used a design similar to this for a double deck module with a light valance for the top deck as well? Or would the height/weight make it too unstable?
@DubaiTrains6 ай бұрын
Hi Brent, good to hear you like the desigm. I am not aware of anyone using this design for a two deck. It could work but will require some extra supports in the form of more and bigger legs.

What thickness of plywood do you recommend for your system? Appears to be a very well thought out design.
@DubaiTrains3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, well that depends on many factors. Leading would be the dimensions of the module. 1ft x 3 ft could do with 1/2 inch in my opinion. But if you are building a 2ft x 6ft you will want to beef it up to 3/4 or more. It also depends on how you want to build your scenery (plaster vs foam) and if you are using the base board or more of an open construction. Just to mention a few.
