This will be the first time I ever comment on a KZbin video in all the years I've watched videos on this website. I'd just like to say your videos have helped me understand this just as much or more then just about any class I've ever taken at school has helped me understand a particular subject. You don't get the credit you deserve. I hope that all made sense

I think your commentary at 17:30 is misleading. The number of shares outstanding didn't change significant. The reason you don't see much growth in equity there is because you look at the quarter results from the recent past. As you looked at the book value growth you looked from an annual perspective and therefore at a greater time span.

If there is anyone who says they are a fundamental investor, they aren't if they don't know all of these terms. Thanks ***** for giving the knowledge to call myself a fundamental investor. Also you other vids are amazing! I never thought of volume that way before. What about more vids on "Security Analysis". I know it doesn't get as many views, but I'll definitely watch it.

Preston, I am using MSN to view the income statement, but it is not displaying the same as your's does. It doesn't show normalized EBITDA or any of the things below the core of the income statement. (all the things in bars, etc.). Has MSN changed how they show the income statement? Please get back to me. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for these videos they are really helping me with the basics of investing. I have a query regarding the P/E ratio. I find tend to use yahoo and google finance, when comparing two companies their P/E ratios tend to differ. An example is LON:BAG showing a P/E ratio of 18.44 on google and 1856.78 on yahoo. I am assuming it has gone wrong on the thousands/billions conversion but please explain. Thanks again Ryan

Hey Preston. I've almost completed course 2 and so far I think you've done a great job. I just wanted to know which of those calculation that you did on that spreadsheet = to the annual profit ? So for e.g. If a a share was $25 and assuming the company grows and is stable within a year and they also give out a dividend, are these the only to values that would equate to my profit ? Could you please clear that up for me. I seem to be a little bit confused. P.s oh and the book value is another figure I should also consider right ?

Hi, Thank you for you amazing videos. I learn a lot from them. I have a question about the Debt/Equity ratio calculation though. When I calculate the D/E ratio for JNJ today, I get 0.51 (2796+27684)/59752=0.51, but in the financial health section the D/E ratio is 0.46. When I leave out the current debt of 2796 I do get the 0.46. Do they leave out the current debt intentionally? Why is that?
@0292darthvader4 жыл бұрын
D/E is usually calculated for long term debts. Current debts are used to calculate the Current ratio. Since most current debts are considered to be resolved if the current assets (Accounts receivables/revenues from operations) will likely be used to pay current debts.

I am having issues locating the outstanding shares, anywhere. Some stocks have it listed clearly under outstanding shares and some dont. Is there a way to calculate the outstanding shares myself (like if I use an annual report from the companies site)? Im finding different wording is used for some things, outstanding shares is one item I am just having real issues locating it. I know its probably listed, just worded differently. I have googled this, I have gotten several different answers as well, non being really successful (or clear because whats suggested, the annual report has slightly different wording) . Anyone who can shoot me an answer thats as simple as Prestons videos would be awesome.

Great overall info...TY! But; Why not just use the total debt number (current + L/T liabilities)? Accounts payable is DEBT; it does not have to SAY debt to BE debt! It is my understanding that financial analysts do NOT use your method, but use the total liabilities #.
