Perfect politically correct answer. Being that you yourself is a Brand Ambassador to Denon DJ maybe you can make sense as to his reasoning for leaving. He claims he wanted Denon to implement Stems but they didn't want to go that route yet as soon as he leaves they announce Stems Beta for Prime 4+ which means it must've been already in the works.

It took me a while to realize this while there was a surge in digital djing... but all that matters is what comes out of the speakers. The crowd doesnt care what you dj with or how you do it. The only people who care are other djs. And I love my fellow djs, but I dont dj for other djs. I dj to entertain crowds. So, if it sounds good coming out of the speakers, DO IT!

People complain about DJs switching gear or making new endorsement with DJ brand like it have an impact on their choice. Just because Luke is with Reloop now doesn't make your "old" Denon or Pioneer setup is obsolete (even if you're still using a CDJ 1000 or a Denon DNS-3700). You don't have to follow what your favorite DJ does or even buy your setup from just one brand. You also can have different "need" than your favorite DJ, even if you want to do the same thing like he does. You can do stem mixing like Luke on Serato or VDJ, scratch like A-Trak on a Pioneer controller or Denon vinyl (you'll need a lot of training anyway, no matter the setup), you can use your phone with Traktor DJ, there's no one way to do what we do, and it always been that way (even when Technics was the only option, it wasn't - but it was the more convenient). Your personal dream setup can be 2 Reloop RP8000m2 with Phase, 2 Denon SC6000M and a Pioneer V10 in the middle (with an Inofader as crossfader), all connected to a laptop with VDJ 2023, and still using Engine or Rekordbox on the side for when you play on your friend setup (that's my dream setup btw, so don't hesitate to make some donation, Luke if you reading this and don't know what to do with those Denon ;) ). Also, the choice Luke or any other DJ to be affiliated with a brand is his own choice, and doesn't change the way people enjoy his performance. They're professional, so they know what they do, how to do it, and how to make it work. (also Luke, next meeting with Reloop, tell them to do a 4 channel mixer oriented for scratch, with a real crossfader and pedal fx, I can't be the only DJ who want to have the battle setup with a 4 channels mixer :) )

Happy to see a EDM DJ for Reloop. They have for sometime set a new standard for DVS and vinyl players. Last few years has mostly been Scratch DJs. Good to see them broaden the spectrum. Been a Reloop fan for years with a RMX90 and 2x RP8000mk2. Hopefully I get to try the elite mixer but, money is a factor. Hope Reloop gives you the opportunity to try out their club mixer RMX95. Curious about that one.

First of all, thank you for your sincerity, it is not something that everyone does. I have always had you as a source of inspiration and after watching the video I better understand the decisions you have made. When you changed to Denon and showed the improvements compared to Pionner, I immediately understood the reason for the change. However, this decision to use your cell phone is still difficult for me to assimilate. I know perfectly well that the future is STEMs but I don't think the future is using a mobile app (small screen). In addition, STEMs are already being implemented in all software. I think what has been missing is a video squeezing out all the capabilities of the new setup, because the little we have seen in videos of your festivals has seemed that you are now much more limited (this did not happen with Denon). You mention the Pionner DJ Sounds video and I think that in terms of technique it is one of the best sets you have done. I understand that as a DJ at a festival the selection matters more and people don't look at the technique. Maybe you could do a set taking full advantage of your new setup and that way people will be more convinced.

I really appreciate this comment! Thank you for coming with reason and the will to discuss! I do have a video coming up with the capabilities of my new (mobile) setup. Which, obviously I think is awesome and a breath of fresh air! Very happy stems are implemented everywhere now! Is my mobile setup the future? It is for me. But maybe not for a ton of DJs, which is ok! I'm really happy and convenient with this, and I just like sharing that feeling with you. I just got back to DJing in 2022 and jumped on the new technology (learning curve like how to tie my shoes again). But I embrace the new gear and technology because it’s made it easier for me to make edits and mix a certain way and I finally learned how to use the cue points lol. I see this video and it makes so much sense, I may have to try reloop gear to DJ with my iPhone to start having it as a back and move it to my preferred gear for future events. They're ahead of the rest of the industry, including what Pioneer and Denon have introduced for stem separation. It's also a swiss army knife that lets you do almost anything. Including compatibility with almost any controller setup you can imagine. Heck, one time I managed to hook up an unsupported M Audio MIDI keyboard and used that to control the built in sampler. If you truly want the future, it's something to consider.

djay and VDJ came out with stems at exactly the same time, but granted, VDJ's has evolved and djay is still generation 1. But I'm convinced Algoriddim is working on that.

I love this! I made a similar switch 5 years ago to Algoriddim djay Pro AI after nearly a decade using Traktor. I’m all for innovation, creativity and keeping an open mind within this craft.

Change is hard for a lot of people. I went from DJing in the 90's on Technics, to adding 2 5000m in the setup. I get where people come from on serato and these new players feel like cheating the old craft. This is the evolution of the tools available. Use it for what it is, not as a focus point on the world changing around you. Be creative and use all the tools available to you to have fun and keep the crowd pumping.

DJ Pro AI is amazing. I'm looking forward for a 4 channel controller to plug into it with 6 physical knobs on each channel for High, Mid, Low (as usual) plus Vocals, Instruments and Beats. Ideally there would be 2 decks switchable to another deck each like the Denon players.

I've always been wondering why DJ's choose their equipment. I appreciate you explaining why you do what you do. One thing I've always been interested in is smaller controllers that seem more portable. A DJ/Producer I really like Andrew Bayer has previously used the Traktor Control from Native Instruments. Do you mind sharing your experience with those? I know Pioneer also makes controllers similar to the Traktor Kontrol but I've been drawn to NI simply because some of my favorite DJ's use them like I mentioned Bayer and Mr. Carmack. I think they've all eventually switched to CDJ's and Pioneer but not sure if it's due to being endorsed or simply preference. I appreciate you being transparent. I was wondering if you can touch on another topic in a future video and that being how streaming services and DJ software can eventually integrate. I know Soundcloud and Beatport are starting to have integrations and I think spotify also but as an Apple Music user I do not want to switch to another service. As a DJ I'm sure you get the tracks from fellow DJ's sent to you all the time but someone starting out who wants to produce their own tracks and also play others buying music can be expensive. Where do you see streaming service and DJ software going? Is this all still so new that everyone is trying to figure out licensing? Appreciate any responses!

I'm not Luke obvs, but a thought I had reading your comment--have they actually "switched?" Or do they use different setups depending on venue and what their needs are? Traktor is still huge I feel--particularly in the techno world. But also probably all the big techno DJs also know how to use CDJs, and so depending on what their needs are and what the venue/where they are traveling, they will use the CDJs. A lot of them will plug in their laptop into the pioneer mixer at the club/festival in HID mode, and then they mix using the big pioneer mixer but the media is all coming in from Traktor.

for example, i'm looking at Andrew Bayer right now in Group Therapy 500 (9 months ago) and I see a laptop next to the Pioneer set up. It's entirely possible he is using Traktor in HID mode

Great point! Not to come at a lot of DJs but most DJs in my world just choose convenience and whatever is the standard, which I understand. But there's not much though there. In a few weeks I'll make a video about my new portable setup, which I love!

Luke, thank you for your transparency and for being this inspiration. I think that from some point of our careers we need to seek for our personal “why” (what drives each one of us). I learned it with Simon Sinek and I think that you have the same opinion. Greetings from São Paulo!
