So 314.5 exception mentions protected by an "approved means", would that be anything that can "thread" onto the screw? Or just wrapping some electrical tape? I know approved means is decided by those having jurisdiction.

We always purchased 1900 &2100 ( 4& 11/16" ) boxes by the case and so many times a few screws would be missing so we just got some 8/32 by 1/2" long machine screws. In the thousands of covers that I removed guess I was lucky to never see a machine screw shorting out a wire. In panels that we used 3/8 or 1 2" all thread we tried to keep threaded end just a few threads longer to install flat washer & a hex nut. Would screw in a think it was called an acorn nut or silicone end of exposed threads.

OK, if I am using a plastic box, can I attach the box by driving a SPAX screw through the back wall of the box into the stud leaving only the head of the screw in the box?

That is 314.23(B), not this section.

@@RyanJacksonElectrical thanks, the intent is good, the wording is not so good. The objective should be - not to impact the structure of the box or what it is attached too - only have the head with no sharp edges inside the box - no threads or or nail shanks should be inside the box

Lip sync (video and audio lining up) is off on this one for some reason, might want to double check your settings. I looked back through the past several videos. I feel like lip sync changed between 250.148 and 300.4--maybe you got a new mic or camera? Audio is currently ahead of video. Keep the content coming!
