This is my complete review of the Intex Explorer 300 inflatable fishing boat and my top 13 tips for new users. Intex Explorer 300 affiliate link amzn.to/487v5ba
I have been purchasing Intex inflatable boats and using and experimenting with them for years. The three biggest advantages of the Intex Explorer 300 are its cost, low weight, and portability. The Intex Explorer 200 does cost less and is about 3 pounds lighter but it's maximum capacity is only 220 pounds. The Intex Explorer 300 has a maximum capacity of over 400 pounds and only weighs 3 pounds more. Both of them have the same thickness of PVC which is quite thin.
The Intex 300 is more comfortable for one person if they are my size which is 6 foot tall and 200 pounds. Whenever I use the Intex 200 I felt like I was a circus act. The Intex 300 is much more stable.
If you install inexpensive D rings you have a way to attach modifications and accessories however I feel the simpler you keep your boat the better. In the video, you will notice I have added a motor mount and super light trolling motor. Sometimes just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The motor and battery increase the weight cost and complexity of the little boat by a large amount while erasing the portability advantage of just using oars. They also increase the possibility of creating abrasions, wear and tear, and holes in the boat instead of just using oars.
The motor mount shown can be improved by adding two pieces of wood forward toward the oar locks and then attaching them to D rings to keep the motor mount level with the boat. The trolling motor I used was very light. It is an old used Shakespeare Sigma 12-pound thrust motor. You can buy them on eBay used. Watersnake makes a similar weight 18-pound thrust motor for about $100 that only weighs 5 pounds and is more powerful but once again I think you may be better off just learning to row properly.
Use the light weight of the boat to carry it close to where you want to go and then just use your oars instead of using a motor to take you a long distance.
One of the key advantages of the little boat is the super lightweight. You should be able to portage it almost anywhere which should reduce the need for a motor.
Please check my playlist on small boats for additional inflatable fishing boat videos and also I will be adding them to my Florida fishing playlist.
If you need a small inflatable boat you can use for fishing and you do not need the lightweight and portability factor of the INTEX 300 I recommend you try the INTEX Seahawk which is a much more well-built boat that only costs a little bit more and has much thicker material to reduce wear and tear and holes. Unfortunately, it is much heavier.

However, if you need a very lightweight inflatable fishing boat the INTEX 200 or 300 are ideal because they weigh so little.
