This is my complete review of the Intex Explorer 300 inflatable fishing boat and my top 13 tips for new users. Intex Explorer 300 affiliate link amzn.to/487v5ba
I have been purchasing Intex inflatable boats and using and experimenting with them for years. The three biggest advantages of the Intex Explorer 300 are its cost, low weight, and portability. The Intex Explorer 200 does cost less and is about 3 pounds lighter but it's maximum capacity is only 220 pounds. The Intex Explorer 300 has a maximum capacity of over 400 pounds and only weighs 3 pounds more. Both of them have the same thickness of PVC which is quite thin.
The Intex 300 is more comfortable for one person if they are my size which is 6 foot tall and 200 pounds. Whenever I use the Intex 200 I felt like I was a circus act. The Intex 300 is much more stable.
If you install inexpensive D rings you have a way to attach modifications and accessories however I feel the simpler you keep your boat the better. In the video, you will notice I have added a motor mount and super light trolling motor. Sometimes just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The motor and battery increase the weight cost and complexity of the little boat by a large amount while erasing the portability advantage of just using oars. They also increase the possibility of creating abrasions, wear and tear, and holes in the boat instead of just using oars.
The motor mount shown can be improved by adding two pieces of wood forward toward the oar locks and then attaching them to D rings to keep the motor mount level with the boat. The trolling motor I used was very light. It is an old used Shakespeare Sigma 12-pound thrust motor. You can buy them on eBay used. Watersnake makes a similar weight 18-pound thrust motor for about $100 that only weighs 5 pounds and is more powerful but once again I think you may be better off just learning to row properly.
Use the light weight of the boat to carry it close to where you want to go and then just use your oars instead of using a motor to take you a long distance.
One of the key advantages of the little boat is the super lightweight. You should be able to portage it almost anywhere which should reduce the need for a motor.
Please check my playlist on small boats for additional inflatable fishing boat videos and also I will be adding them to my Florida fishing playlist.
If you need a small inflatable boat you can use for fishing and you do not need the lightweight and portability factor of the INTEX 300 I recommend you try the INTEX Seahawk which is a much more well-built boat that only costs a little bit more and has much thicker material to reduce wear and tear and holes. Unfortunately, it is much heavier.
amzn.to/3CSt0lF
However, if you need a very lightweight inflatable fishing boat the INTEX 200 or 300 are ideal because they weigh so little.

Great review! I leave tomorrow to row across the Atlantic. Glad I sprung for the 300 instead of the 200.

Well. On the positive side, the boat is so small you can take several extras with you. Just in case.😀

Thank you for your video. The Striped Bass are still running here and the best part, you catch them from the beach! I have to go and give them a try since the good brother managed to catch eight in one go. I think I mentioned that they can up nice. Have a great one fishing.

Hey thanks a lot for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. This video did not get a lot of use but it's an absolutely wonderful little boat for the price. Just get the right length oars.

Gee all cheaper than here even 2 years ago. No pump added to pkg . Could you show how you have your motor mount attached. Video was a bit shaded, fast.And When you do the sail please show. I have an Intex and wanted to add. Here 8 foot has to be registered and besides the cushion a whistle ,plus suggested air horn.

Hello journey, I posted another video of me rowing and you can see the motor and mount better. I reversed the motor and put it on the back of the boat like normal and then reverse the head of the motor so I can access the controls although not easily and that way I can motor while looking forward as if the motor was behind me. The problem is if the motor has a malfunction or if the propeller gets fouled with weed it is at the other end of the boat and impossible to access easily. But if the motor is behind me since I am so close to it then it is also hard to access. I have found the motor to be actually more trouble than it's worth. I have a very old video in my boat playlist that shows me with the same motor on the Intex 200. I put the battery in the front. In that video the motor is behind me. I used a different motor mount. The motor mount I made for the 300 is very simple and just three pieces of wood. I added a D ring to the stern of the boat so I could attach them out at the Stern and then ran two pieces of cord from the outside edges of the motor mount to the or locks. An improvement would be to add some arms on the ends of the motor mount and either attach them to the oar locks or add D rings. It's important to cushion any part that will cause an abrasion or where the PVC. It would be easy to chafe a hole and a thin plastic. I find the Explorer 200 and 300 row so easily with the larger oars that it is much simpler to not use the motor. The motor and battery eliminate the weight and portability advantage of the Explorer 200 and 300. You end up needing a cart to carry the battery and motormount and trolling motor. If you are going to use a motor mount it is better to spend a few more dollars and buy a Seahawk 300. Thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it. If you look at the video description I have links to my boat playlist.

I watched a lot of videos on the hawk three and it looks great. This one is surprisingly comfortable and if you have the right oars rows sweet. No effort at all. All of my places to go near me have alligators or I would be out all the time.

@@RobbsHomemadeLife i took my 300 out last weekend it was amazing BUT the seahawk looks like it has little latches which allow the oar to move at 360 degrees but on the explorer 300 there is a stiff rubber thing. so, for that reason, i did some brainstorming. i arrived at the decision i could probably combine the 2 oars into a kayak style oar, and, it worked i am very excited to take out my explorer 300 again with my homemade kayak style oar as i know it will be much better not being bound by the weird little rubber holes and the double oars. i want to impulse buy a seahawk bad but ig should wait a year and enjoy my 300s as i spent $170cad on 2 of them

Спасибо за видео! Какова длина алюминиевых весел?
@weedsmoker911
@weedsmoker911 Ай бұрын
Ну мужик в начале видео сказал, что алюминиевые длиннее родных на 8 дюймов (на 20 см). А родные имеют длину 150, соответственно, алюминиевые будут в длину где-то 170

Hello Mike, I left a link for the boat items I used in the video description but here is the link for the oars that I like a lot. Intex Boat Oars for Intex Inflatable Boats, 1 Pair, 54in amzn.to/3fXhxtl they are not cheap but should last a very long time and really make a difference. Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.

The raft is 30-40$ with all the additions you paid more for the extras than the boat. Buy it as is and use as is or if you’re going to put all that money into it get a higher quality raft or boat
@RobbsHomemadeLife
@RobbsHomemadeLife Ай бұрын
The only problem is the higher quality boat is going to be heavier and bulkier and won't really last much longer and all the extra items I bought like the anchor and oars will last longer than I will and can be used on other boats. There are some very lightweight inflatables called pack boats that people use backpacking but they are 10 times the cost.

thank you.what is your opinion of a 10 lb mushroom anchor?
@RobbsHomemadeLife
@RobbsHomemadeLife 10 ай бұрын
@@mikehammel5028 hi Mike, I'm posting a video today on anchors. I'm not a big fan of mushroom anchors. They can work if there is not a lot of wind or current, and because of their shape. They do not get hung up as easy as other anchors, but I would rather have an anchor that wants to hang up on something. Mushroom anchors were designed to sink down into mud and sand and when that happens their holding power is actually very good. They are used to moor boats. When Amar Shoemaker is down deep and sand and mud. They can actually outperform other anchors. But it is important that the mushroom anchor is down deep into the mud and sand. This can take a long time. But they are pretty much useless on grass and rock.
