It doesn't seem like 500-700rms to me the fact he couldn't blow the reasonably sized speaker, I doubt he was getting more than 80-100wrms, most amps these days are massively overrated. I've did this for fun with an old QSC MX1500 but you have to be careful, put a 2 ohms resistor in serie with the speakers because when they short out, it can damage the amplifier.
