I have been trying to find a recipe for clouds FOREVER ! Now everyone (fluid artists) are making "classes" that you have to pay for !! I don't have over $100 to find out their processes. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will save your video and refer to it when I attempt clouds! Thank you again!!
@LouiseMcKayArt11 ай бұрын
I guess I’m not that opportunistic and probably will not be liked by those that make classes (which I know takes time and effort) my attitude has always been and I have no problem sharing anything, at the end of the day the artist has to put the paint and recipes into practice with their own hands, so I can show you all day like leading a horse to water, but the artist has to drink on their own. So I don’t mind sharing and I really appreciate when others are open and transparent with me. It’s all about the art and creating to me. Some will get it and some never will.

@LouiseMcKayArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Linda😘, and I’m with you I do like pearls, but I like them in reasonable portions lol. That is the danger and the beauty of this technique, and the balance of getting the right amount of pearls and keeping the right amount of color in the composition. it just takes practice. I’ve gotta keep feeling this out and get the paint that are gonna work right in the right percentage of setting enamel to get the right amount of pearls! You’ll be seeing more of this for sure I love this technique

@LouiseMcKayArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you Betty, 😘well, give the recipe a go, it works, just gotta make sure you get your paints really really really thin. Did I say thin? Really thin! Completely different from ring pours or bloom. I was hoping the pearls would slow down, but they kept on coming which means I’ve got to work on my paints to help them get more substantial or pick different paints that will hold up better to the satin enamel. I love the pearls, but I don’t wanna lose all my color, as it constant balance with this technique.

I’m sure you’ve made Sara VERY proud! This one turned out gorgeous Louise!! This is still my all time most favorite technique to do…or at least tied with the straight galaxy pour! If you happen to have extras that you’re looking to sell, I’d LOVE to buy it from you!! I have about 1/2 bottle left that I’ve been treating like liquid gold.😂❤ Beautiful job my friend!!🤗💕

Hi Louise, Nice to meet you! I'm new to this art form and loved your video. Even more, I loved that you said hello from Asheville. Do you ever host a class? Kathleen
@LouiseMcKayArt4 ай бұрын
Hi Kathleen, and welcome. This is a fantastic art form, I’ve been doing it for just over three years. I live in Asheville, I did a class at the fluid art boutique in DC earlier this month, however, I’ve never done my own classes here yet. Are you nearby Asheville?
@kathleensihrer9134 ай бұрын
@@LouiseMcKayArt Thank you for responding! I live in Conway, SC. Asheville isn't too far for me. I would love to come to Asheville for a couple of days to learn in person. I've watched 10,000 videos and have poured a couple of large canvases. One of them I want to repour. I was so excited at first but the more I look at it the more I see wrong with it! Arggggg.
@LouiseMcKayArt4 ай бұрын
@@kathleensihrer913 thanks Kathleen, if I can give you any advice is to stay with one type of technique and start smaller to work up to something larger. You certainly can pour over canvases, I did a lot of work on tiles to begin with just to get the feel of the paint and consistency. And honestly, I’m not sure about a 1:1 class and if you’ve only done a couple canvases, I would encourage you to keep exploring and learning before committing to personal sessions, you can learn a lot thru your own creations, finding what works for you and your own style.

Beautiful! I don't want to exasperate you but as to the parts in the recipe: are you doing by volume or by weight? I'm guessing that the Behr is denser (?) than the Floetrol.
@LouiseMcKayArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you Rebekah❄️, paints I go by weight, in the example I referred to the parts in grams. Resin, by volume.

Louise I see that the Behr 7050 is just an interior white paint. I have PPG from Lowes and wondered if that would be ok?
@LouiseMcKayArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, I I don’t know which PPG you may have, but it needs to be a satin enamel paint. So if it doesn’t say satin enamel, I don’t think it’s going to work. Honestly, I don’t know what is in the properties of the satin enamel that give the pearls, but chemistry wise I believe that’s where the pearls come from. And, of course, with anything, you don’t know until you try! You may find some other kind of reaction with it.

What does Apple Barrel paint do you and do you have to use that❤
@LouiseMcKayArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Ann😘, if you check the video out, it shows, I think it was 21119E Apple barrel white matte. Honestly, this was the first time using this product in this base paint, but I knew that Sara had great results with it, and I bought that apple barrel paint almost 2 years ago and I figured I better start to use it😂. When I was first learning this cloud pearl two years ago, I did not have it, and still had really pretty pearls. But this worked right out of the gate with this results, so I’m gonna keep working with this, adjusting the recipe to get pearls/paint exactly the way I want them.
