Ok just to add to this. I did a top overhaul at 70,000km. So maybe some of the shoddy workmanship maybe attributed to the previous mechanic. Initially I had planned to do an engine overhaul at 100,000km mileage. Unfortunately my bike broke down at 91,100km just 9000km shy of the 100k mileage. So its not too bad considering my daily commute to and fro JB - Harbour Front - JB. Farhan keeps belittling my bike because its Made in China and saying i bought the wrong bike and that my bike is problematic etc... Farhan..I can bet if u were still riding your 'Hidayah' you wouldn't be saying the same thing about your bike. Am i right?

I have to face reality that as much as I love the CBF150; the lack of parts, uncommon tire size in the SEA region; being unknown in Malaysia, & Thailand; with it causing more problems despite numerous repairs (including overhaul) towards the end of my ownership, I have to face the fact that it is a problematic bike, which is why I sold it in the first place, with a heavy heart of course. Being an owner yourself, and putting much investment in your bike, of course you'd wanna be in a position to say that the bike is good. However, I have met CB190 owners, saying that their bikes have a lot of issues. Including Fahmi's testimony of him regularly overhauling CB190s.

Its ok Zar, upgrade when the time comes. This bike even if you scrap or sell, you will still have the memories.. China bike, still can reach all over Thailand, while some class 2 bikes dont even dare to cross borders..

Can sense the tension between Zar and Farhan in the comments. Look, you guys have been wonderful for the SG bike community with your vlogs and videos and because of your work, tons of knowledge were picked up by newbie and experienced riders alike, myself included. I can understand from Zar's POV why he might be a tad upset its being called a China bike and not to mention the financial aspect of overhauling so its understandable. But at the same time I can also understand Farhan's POV in trying to spread as much information about the reliability of the CB190 series engine, solely from a informative/content perspective. At the end of the day, you know the saying, if its gonna happen, it will happen. Bende kalau nak jadi, akan terjadi, regardless of the brand/engine. Money can be earned back, but lives can't so I'm glad that everyone is safe and sound. Hope you guys can put this incident behind you and we are looking forward to more videos/vlogs with from the both of you! :)

this happen to me also.. at night after my night class, if u heard timing chain break, get ready towing and top overhaul. I ask mechanic to change everything inside even they said some still can used 50%. since u gonna do it haul. I change piston, valve. rings and so on. Close to $900 in total. that coil also, usually the coil is fine, but the wire attached to it faulty, the wire never sell individually, it came as a set so abt $120 for it... total for me..

Zar, just wondering do you change your engine oil often? I also heard a mechanic says the e.o must be at 1.2 litres not 1 litre. I riding cb190r too.

I ride cb190r and use it for delivery. I usually only use 1 litre full synthetic E.O. i do change it regularly as well once every 2-3 weeks or every 1500-2000km. So far when i check dipstick 1litre engine oil like good enough you can try checking your dipstick

this just brings back all the bad memories when my bike had to do top overhaul. similar issues with the timing chain guide breaking off, scratches in the chamber with the piston head. rather this bike than class 2 bike 🥲

I wrote this bike for 2 years and sold it off. I did a overhaul just after one year . After a year I can sense that's some issues again . Have problem with the cam chain .. I realise this bike have some issues to be honest . End up I traded this bike for another . Just sharing

I beg to differ. This is a documentary on Discovery channel about the greatest motorcycle. Honda Cub takes the 1st place. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipDFpIWphrOae7s My old vespa could last another 30 -40 years had it not been totaled in an accident. My only regret is that i did not takeout the engine after the accident...damn.. i could sell it off for like RM3000 - RM4000.

Glad to see the towing uncle still around. He towed my bike back when I had my fall at pasir gudang. Good that Fahmoto gives insights on what they do when overhaul engine. I noticed that it's a manual timing chain tensioner. I got bad experiences with those tensioners and generally use the OEM auto tensioner but change often.
