I usually mount my motor a little closer to the yak. The weight of the motor is offset by positioning the battery to the opposite side. Thanks for the video!

Yea I definitely think I could of gone a little closer, I think this will be a temporary mount till I build something better, I'll make sure the next one's a little closer to the yak

Good stuff mate! I’m picking up a next gen 10 in a few days and it’s great having someone else putting out good proper reviews of their products. I too was looking at the exact motor/mount combo so I was really looking forward to this video and even more keen for the next seeing it in action.

I took it out yesterday for a putt putt and it is a great motor and battery setup, it's a shame about the mount but my advise is to just make something instead of buying that mount

Are you getting the outriggers with the kayak, makes a world of difference balance wise

@@OutdoorFishingLivingMission Picking the outriggers up at a later date so the misses doesn't kill me for spending so much at once haha, but their defiantly on the cards.

Nice improvisation. I had a Hobie Outfitter with a trolling motor but was a bit too much work to set up. I had to take the paddle, mirage drive, outriggers, motor, battery plus fishing gear which was all too much work. Sold it for a Viking GT - much lighter and just need to take the paddle. With a bigger Yak you don't really need the outriggers. I found on my Hobie I didn't need the outriggers even when using the motor.
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
Yea definitely is a lot of gear to bring with you, it's handy to be able just to grab the yak, paddle and rod and go for a fish. Im glad you said that. I'm looking at down the track getting maybe a Hobie, bonafide, Jackson or old town kayak, I was hoping the bigger yaks wouldn't need the outrigger.
@maldrury83134 жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorFishingLivingMission That Nextgen 10 has a low carrying capacity. Not sure how you transport your Yak. Something light with a good weight capacity would be Feel Free Lure 11.5 or a Bonafide. If you don't mind a heavy Yak then Hobie Pro Angler, Jackson Big Rig or Feel Free Lure 13.5 would be good for you. Kayaks to Fish have a 12 foot Hobie Style pedal kayak for a good price. You can go further with pedal drive. Interesting to see how your motor performs.

I'm really keen on a Jackson kayak next, but it's quite expensive, so hopefully this one will last me a bit before I upgrade again

I have the same kayak and I just went with the motor mount bar. Alot more simple
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
Oh it definitely would be 1000% easier haha. I knew I should of just done a DIY mount in the first place

So I just ordered this with the basic motor mount bar. In the video, something looks wrong, like the block should be on the lower bar? Also have you guys found you need a counterweight or pontoons to handle the motor?
@nhutran81902 жыл бұрын
will it be stable with mount bar using K2F 50lbs motor on one side? i'm told that it may flip to one side therefore checking with YakSternmount and the rear mount plate is $240 plus shipment. not mentioned a manual control to rear motor until they release the headless motor in few months.

Hi, just got my motor but it comes with those clamp instead of a wire. Just wondering was it same for you and did you just cut those clamp and tie it up with the terminator? Also, love all you kayak 2 fish vedios and was following all of them to set my kayak up🙏🙏🙏

I have the same Kayak with a side mounted Watersnake. Do you find the kayak wants to keep going in circles?
@OutdoorFishingLivingMissionАй бұрын
Yea try to get it as close to the kayak as possible, just aim slight off to one side to counteract the weight distribution. If I still had the kayak I would definitely do a rear mount but have upgraded since

? can you fix the T24 watersnake in one position and use the rudder to steer. PS good and to the point videos. A

Do you just have the engine locked straight and use the rudder to steer?
@OutdoorFishingLivingMission4 жыл бұрын
Nah, engine on swivel, and use rudder too, makes it easy for tighter turning especially when fishing near banks and sand bars

Having a pwm with a side mounted motor that you can reach and have to grab to steer is 100% pointless. Good wast of money! Lol
