Love to hear these talks but when it comes to trump I don't care what reason you give, after the debate in 2020 where trump couldn't even say he would except the election results and said stand by and stand ready he will never get my vote or the vote of some life long republicans. this will be my grandparents and uncle's first time voting dem in their lives. There is one policy that stands above them all and that is the peaceful transfer or power.

I just started a master degree a month ago and I have obviously added a lot of people to my professional network on linkedin since then... it is insane to me how often people come up to me and they are like "dude, why are you saying this on linkedin?", "Man, I agree with you but you shouldn't say that", "Nobody is gonna hire you" and bla bla bla... And all I ever respond with is basically: "Well, we can't all be cowards. And it's always only gonna get worse if people refuse to speak up" ... Yet I find it shocking how few people amongst the supposed intellectual "elite" don't have the balls to speak up and choose conformity over speaking the truth. Honestly... I am too old to play this game. If an employer doesn't want me for challenging narratives on DEI etc. publicly... then that's probably not an employer I would want to work for anyway. But it is so sad to see how almost nobody I know will do anything... Speaking up and talking to people is not hard. it's not "brave" ... it is literally the easiest thing anyone can do.

It's the entire reason for the quote "all that's required for evil to succeed, is for good men to do nothing". There are a great many companies that will admire your stance and being employed by them will give you a lot more life satisfaction than being silent and hired by a company you'll grow to hate with every fibre of your being. If I had an open space I would hire you on the strength of that alone.

I find it hard to believe that someone who took so long "to see the truth" was blissfully ignorant at the beginning. The " anti-Trump" movement in 2016-16 provided a powerful moment in that it immediately outed who the problems in this society were. Bill may be doing a good job now but he is someone who seriously has to be watched. He has money and connections so could be useful.

You can always tell when Bill Ackman is lying, it's when his lips are moving. I've been in finance long enough now to know if Bill Ackman is saying something, it's to create a situation for him to profit. He will be building a position which is long Harris, short Trump, but talking up Trump to get the best prices for both. See: his speech at the start of covid talking up lockdowns, how it was the end of hotels, they'd all go bust.... while he was buying up hotel stocks. See: All his bond bullshit the last 2 years manipulating the 10 year long and short via tweet. Trusting him is a losing game. Only he wins.

I'm also an independent, and I haven't watched the entire video yet, but I'm almost inclined to make assumptions on what makes more sense for "cheerleaders", . I thought it used to be "we're the best! we'll prove it!" - "no, we're the best, and we'll do that even better!" And yet now, it seems like the de rigeur is "look how bad they are! we're not that!". It's really an overall bummer, and I'm not a fan of sh+t-talking people to make yourself look 'better than'. personally, I think one side is using that tactic exponentially more, instead of just being positive cheerleaders. I believe the term is "FUD". fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Makes me sad, dude.

Yeah and trying to overthrow the government is right at the top of the list of what a Democratic Republic should look like along with the desecration of the white house. Not to mention adultery with pornstars, sexual assault, tax cheat, wire fraud, endless protests and riots in the streets, mismanagement of a pandemic which saw a million plus die.. Trump oversaw the 2nd straight recession by a Republican president and lost millions of jobs. The only clear thing he did was make rich people richer and made inflation worse with all that unnecessary spending. Trump is a fraud and you sound like an iiiidiot.

Bush Era was not some dream of prosperity and sense. the only reason they stayed in, was because Americans were so angry, and that side offered satiation. Then the Dems got in, because we bit off more than we could chew. Then Trump was better than Hilton. Then some thought perhaps sanity would return. And now we know it will not. So Trump. There was a profound lack of deterrence when Russian sanctions were lifted and missile systems were allowed to be installed in Crimea. Those missile systems became the tool of the initial attack on Ukraine. There was a profound lack of deterrence when the US announced that Palestine would just have to accept that Israel was a Jewish state and when the US embassy was moved. There was a profound lack of deterrence when the Iran nuclear deal was cancelled allowing Iran to become a nuclear threat and allowing Tehran leadership to degenerate to people who would support Hamas. The quote is not bad - just misapplied.

Blanket tarriffs will be catastrophic for America. The astronomical budget deficit his platform implies will spook the money markets and US debt interest will explode, and US bonds collapse in value. You ( because I'm not American) could be far right for sure, because they're definitely far wrong. But jokes aside, when you really dig into the far extremes, you begin to see they just fall out from either side and become basically the same thing. You have right and left politics, each representing more conservative or progressive ideals respectively, then you have authoritarian regimes, which come with a more right wing or left wing policy coating, but are the same at their core.

@@jumboshrimps4498 I'm kindof with you but as someone who doesn't live in the US but have travelled, basically all your cheap food is incredibly unhealthy. It's an almost unique situation where you can have both malnutrition and obesity... It's an inversion of the situation in other developing countries where you need to be wealthy to get fat. Individual responsibility shouldn't be ignored but honestly the US government can do a lot more to enhance the health of their population through diet. One thing in my country is that health insurers have cash-back programs for buying healthy food. It's not like an extra tax on bad food, it's a purely economic incentive where insurers looked at what obesity cost them in health claims (it's billions) and by providing cash back on purchases of food that are healthier (assuming portion control), they actually save money. Does that work at the US scale, I don't know, but there are things you can do as a government with a bit of effort. Sugar tax doesn't work, but health incentives do.

What Bill Ackman mentioned regarding the best, most talented people don’t run for office is something I’ve been preaching for decades. Our best prefer the private sector. The private sector failures and rejects turn to politics and government employment. Because they can’t survive in the competitive private sector. I’ve dreamed of forming a exploratory committee to seek out and recruit our best and brightest to commit to a period of time in public service, then return to your farm (private sector) as the Founding Fathers envisioned. The “Citizen Legislator”. Otherwise these 3rd rate losers and rejects currently serving as career politicians will drive us off the cliff!

"Public office" is currently a prison made of cameras and highly edited, out-of-context, personal attacks specifically designed to destroy confidence and instill fear in its target and any supporters. Any reasonably intelligent person wants nothing to do with that bonfire, especially when it's intricately connected to "celebrity", or a "cult of personality", magnifying glass, as it is today, and the establishment has as much capital as the establishment does and is motivated to stop you from changing anything they've ALREADY built. The most intelligent people also realize, if you have knowledge, you don't need money or power to get whatever you want unless what you want is to rule a country. And if you're intent upon ruling a country, return to the beginning of my statement and realize it's far easier, and more enduring, to do it with economics rather than public sentiment, which is required for public office. The best, most gifted people, don't have the time, nor the inclination, to appease the masses. And it should not be their responsibility to do so, lest we intend upon sacrificing innovation and progress entirely in the pursuit of forcing public service on those entirely unqualified to "serve" in the capacity we would be asking them to. May I suggest changing/modifying the conditions present, if you want to entice the best and brightest to put actual effort where you cannot currently find/entice them.

When you operate WITHOUT those "departments" you can streamline and produce products and services at a lower cost than companies who utilize them. It's simple economics, those "departments" don't contribute to the profit margin of a company, they only contribute to cost margin and can easily be cut for more black ink at the bottom of the page, so long as "middle managers" are actually "competent" and do their job.

BlackRock does not own all the media, but it does have a significant stake in many major media companies. According to a 2023 report by the Institute for Public Accuracy, BlackRock and Vanguard are the two largest shareholders in the six major media companies that control more than 90% of the U.S. media landscape. Together, BlackRock and Vanguard own 18% of Fox, 16% of CBS, 13% of Comcast, 12% of Disney, and 12% of News Corp. According to a 2023 report by the Institute for Public Accuracy, BlackRock and Vanguard are key players, emerging as the largest shareholders in six major media companies that collectively dominate over 90% of the U.S. media landscape. But that's not all; beyond their shares in major media giants, BlackRock's influence extends to a significant number of smaller media companies. For instance, did you know that BlackRock is the largest shareholder in Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns a staggering 223 television stations across the United States? Not to mention their stake in Graham Media Group, which owns 40 television stations and several popular magazines.
