Hey Gord gotta love fall starting to get a few hints down this way as well. I can’t believe how people just assume they can go wherever. I have never been one to participate or support that. Up here in Northern N.B., we use a combination of red circles, no trespassing signs in both official languages and trail cams set up at known entry points to our properties. Works pretty well and with the cams it’s added proof if there are any denials from those who are caught attempting to cross our lines. Thanks for the videos, good luck with the hunters.

GP, I have the same issue on my property of people hunting without permission. I do allow hunting for a few friends, and they are very responsible. Not something I wish to do. Good luck keeping people off. I've had to chase off people on ATV's, people on horses, and had to rescue a drunk driver who drove off of the end of my runway. Glad to see you are using your tractor. Wait till winter. You'll love the cab! Thank you for sharing.

I started reseeding last week. First time I ever had to do it because of the dry Summer we had. But I notice you did it in reverse. I "roughed up" the ground before adding seeds. The ground was like concrete and all I had to break it up was a gravel rake! I'm envious of your spreader, all I got is me carrying a bag of a sun/shadow blend using a solo cup! Best Regards, Jay

Hello Gord. Great idea to paint the sign, doesn't damage the tree with nailing a sign in the tree. One suggestion to make it more visible would be to paint a section of the trunk white before using the template. The red on white would really pop. I see your first modification for using the rear hydraulics. It would be cold spreading sand with the back window open in the winter. Have a good week. Alain

As another user pointed out, purple is what is required here. You post your main entrances to the property and then go along the edges and use purple paint to mark and designate no trespassing. We have hunted on our property and let a few other family members bow hunt on the property. Yet, in general we don't allow people to hunt on it.

No there's no international mark or color. My trees are marked with a red stripe all the way round it. The woodcompany thats are next to me had temporarly marked there land with yellow plastic ribbons. Here a tree marked red, purple, with a stripe or an axe mark can also mean that its gonna take down. This are in Scandinavia.

Here in Idaho, red or "hunter" orange, minimum of 400 square inches must be visible from off the property. I think the maximum spacing between signs or paint is 200 feet, if visibility allows. I only have an acre but will have to learn the specifics when I get a larger plot of land. Thanks for another entertaining and informative video!

I'm disappointed that people would not respect your wishes for your property. I do hunt and fish and shoot trap and skeet, but it really is pathetic when people don't respect your wishes and trespass on your property and hunt when they're not supposed to! I wasn't aware of the red dot, but in this part of the country of Arkansas Texas and Oklahoma people mark their property with purple paint which means do not trespass. I enjoyed your hints for grass planting and I will need to look in to what works well in our part of the US. Keep up the good work and get ready for winter.

I have the same problem. I've put up signs, only to have them torn down. I've had my fences cut. We too, have the paint rule but it doesn't seem to work either. My property is in the midst of a 500 acre Lease and every year theres a party of about 13 people that think its their right to drive deer thru my property. I don't trespass on their leased ground, but i don't hunt. So I don't have any reason to go on their side. But even if I did hunt I'd obey the trespass signs.

I have a friend in Vermont who posts signs with "No hunting without written permission" and posts them within view of each other. That way people can't claim they missed a sign or walked between them. He only issues permission slips to locals and friends on a one year basis that he renews each year. Still, even when we are there, we see people pull over on the road and check out the area. Ugh. :( Watch out for poachers.

Gord I too don't have a problem with people hunting, to each their own. I built a new house 2 years ago and it's in an open field. Last year my mom who lives with me, 92, came to get me. She had 2 very small holes right beside each other in her bedroom window. She asked me if this was caused from a bullet? Doing my best to convince her it couldn't be because it would have gone through both panes of glass I think she knew it was. I asked a couple of friends of mine that hunt and their guess is someone was bird hunting and fired into the air and it hit the window. Scary how thoughtless people can be about their surroundings. There are deer stands on the lands south of me but all the hunting area is lower than my house.

Great channel! QUESTION: What is the adapter hitch that you have that takes the multi ball hitch receiver. I saw one of the multi ball mount with the hook but I need a back hitch attachment as a receiver. BTW, I just purchased a LX3310 and love it. I have a quick hitch but would like to get a hitch like yours. Could you direct me on the name and vendor? Thanks
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Good morning and congrats on the new tractor Jim! The actual multi-ball hitch with the hook, you can get from Canadian Tire or Princess Auto. The actual receiver or to bar that goes on the 3 point hitch for the tractor is a BECO unit - I got it from Farmer Equipment Sales here in Ontario ( they have a website of the same name) - I also have an Adams hitch I got from the Kubota Dealer. All the tow bars have a standard 2" receiver on them. Pros and cons : the Adams hitch has a few spots for wrapping chains or attaching chain hooks. The BECO model does not, but it has two receivers on it - one low and one high (but no hooks or spots for chains to be attached. Hope that helps! Enjoy the new tractor!

Odd how so many rules apply in all parts of the world, just in slightly varying elements. Red, purple, orange, yellow, all effectively mark boundaries, in different areas. It's easy to trespass in the woods so I'm glad to see you marking your property. Hunters, of which I play at occasionally, are appreciative of those markers. In my area, I find most errors of boundary occur due to misunderstanding. Oh sure, there are those who do it intentionally, but most hunters are quick to point them out, as it gives that group a bad name. A good hunter knows the lay of the land he is on, whether you can see a house or not, you should know it's there from maps.

I had the fellow that owns the property next to mine putting deer seed about a hundred fifty yards on the my property, because mine was cleared and his was not and they set up a shooting line from his property onto my property oh, I never spoke to the neighbor due to I'm not being there when I'm there, but I did mark my property many different ways, where I am from as far as I know there's no standard for marking, but trust me he knew he was not on his property after I marked it :-)

I have an ancient set of harrows, both chain and spike types. They are drawn by a long bar that has a rod on one end that goes to the drawbar, and a chain on the other end that goes to the drawbar, thus allowing you to turn without getting caught in the tire. Anyway, looking at that single spike harrow section in action, you could likely pull two sections without losing maneuverability and cut your time by about 40%. Also, those harrows are pretty good for touching up gravel driveways without having to dig them up too much with blades and scarifiers.

Good morning Gord. I hunt along with a group of friends in Alberta where we have several thousand acres. The land is posted, some of it fenced and thanks for the great cup of still every year we have to deal with poachers. None of our group hunt deer and we have gone to great lengths to let people know that we will give permission to hunt deer. Moose we do not permit and Elk can be hunted if none of us are there, but very few hunters come to ask permission yet every year we have issues.

Great video Gord . I used to hunt deer every year . In 2007 I had a real nice buck in my sights . At that moment I could't pull the trigger . Don't know what happened to me but I just couldn't . That was the last time I hunted . Now It's just metal targets . I remember when you got your property surveyed . It cost a buddle but now you know where your borders are . I hate tresspassers . Don't know why the OPP don't get involved in tresspassung . Aren't they supposed to enforce the laws . Is'nt that why they're getting paid . Call the MNR and see how long they take to show up . That's if they show up at all . Didn't know about the red dot in Ontario . Like many people have said a purple dot is used in many States .If a hunter doesn't keep up with the new rules that red dot might mean nothing to them .

When I first bought my property I found a hunters stand on the edge of my property overlooking my back pasture. I posted a no trespassing sign at eye level as he would sit in the stand. I then heard from my neighbors He then told them what a (insert vulgarity) I was and then mounted a trail camera watching my pasture in place of the stand. I visited that camera everyday and waved including working my dog in the pasture during hunting season. I never met this unknown Hunter but my persistence seemed to solve my problem. All he had to do was ask.

Good morning GP. Yup winter is coming. Here the colors are incredible. Kinda surprised with how dry here it is. We are in a severe drought.. It is not good. So as a hunter I want to apologise for the few that disregard the common rules of hunting.. As a hunter it is infuriating to us because it is a privilege to hunt not a right and it can be taken away because of those individuals. Just like Snowmobiling going off trail when it is clearly make not to. And I am sure you know what I am talking about. All it takes is one.. The key word here is "Respect". Thanks for the reminder. Great Video.. Hey... Something for you to look into.. I was given one and I love it. A solar charger for your tractor. You can stick it to the right side door with the suction cups to mount it and then plug it into your cigarette lighter. Nice little trickle charger.. How's she goin'? Stopping hunters from hunting on your land is a chore for sure. Like you, I have no issues with hunters, but they should be mindful of where they are and respect the 'No Hunting' designations. Now having said that, I'd say 99% of hunters will do this, but it's the 1% that spoil it for the rest of them!!! BTW, your flag pole looks great!!! Take care!!!

Been a few years, as I actually no longer own the property, but more than once, I would from the house see people walking in the woods within view of the house! I would as politely as one can yell, tell them they were on private property that is posted and entirely too close to a home! It constantly amazed me how stupid they were, they would move a few feet, not be any more concealed and stop walking, still extremely visible! One group of three actual by there actions refused to leave. Well I convinced them, I tool a red dot shooting aid, a placed it on their bodies. Then yelled in 5 minutes it would be affixed to a firearm and be sighted in. They left. Then every morning and evening, I put several rounds into trees!

I think you will find out it is not the locals, it is some joker from out of town! The OPP should be called at the very least

It blows my mind that land owners have to spend so much time energy and money to post their property so hunters can aimlessly walk and hunt. The onus should be placed squarely on the hunters shoulders to know where they are. I believe if they want to hunt Then they should go buy acreage and hunt on their own land.
LANDSCAPE RAKES ARE AMAZING TOOLS! SAVE SO MUCH TIME! 🚜👨‍🌾
