I always wondered what the ducks, weavers and boots were all about. Thanks to these excellent notes to this fine version of this song I now know.

Lovely! The tune sounds like Wallaby Stew, and the lyrics sound a bit inspired by it. Does it have an original name? The title also reminds me of Gulls of Invergordon, a great old comedic song.

It's a new song to me, being a request. It does sound a bit like Wallaby Stew, so they may have common roots. I don't know Gulls of Invergordon. I'll have to look it up.

A fine and enjoyable rendition. I'm wondering how you know the song or about James Malcomson. His name is actually spelt like mine without the second 'l' although he was no relation that I'm aware of. However, I do own a book of his poems and his great niece is my next door neighbour.

I didn't know it until I got a request for it. Thanks for the correction to the spelling.
