It’s interesting to me that Way of the Hunter and COTW classify things like the .300 and .338 as ethical for Cape Buffalo. In most African countries the minimum caliber to harvest Cape Buffalo is .375, and that’s on the low side. A .404 or .416 is more commonly used by hunters. Even for lions, a significantly smaller animal, .375 is considered the ideal caliber by most PH’s and outfitters.

African countries legislate the need for more powerful rounds for dangerous game so fewer tourists get killed playing great white hunter. There’s a bit of a gap between the bar for an “ethical” kill and the bar for “dead right there”. 9.3x62 is also legal for dangerous game in some of those countries but it’s less powerful than .338 Lapua by most metrics.

I did get a double kill with the lapua. On tikamoon too. But, I almost always use the lapua, I'm bad and tend to use it a lot.

Nice hunt in Way of the Hunter. However, I still have one really, really big question: WHY DID THEY NOT ADD ELEPHANTS, RHINOS, HIPPOS, GIRAFFES, ZEBRAS, OR CROCODILES TO TIKAMOON PLAINS!?!?!?! I fully expected at least ONE of any of those animals to be added to the reserve, BUT THEY COMPLETELY BLEW IT!!!!!!!! WHY!?!?!?!?!?!
