Just chopped my body mounts and welded a body mount kit on my 2021 Tundra.... because my 295/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grabblers tires on Fuel Vector wheels 18x9 w +1 offset was rubbing on the mount when turning sharp up and over a raised asphalt curb for a driveway. Its wasn't to hard to do the installation......Doing it myself saved me a few hundred dollars because I bought a welder from harbor freight & tool and the Body mount kit was a total of $200. The shop that does the body mount kit installations charge almost $500. So I saved money and also got a welder and more room for my tire for Less.. Happy!!!!

You don't have to do the body mount chop for 35s if you get the right offset on your wheels.
@SBG_ARMS Жыл бұрын
@@KurNorockwhat do you think the right offset is for the 35’s?
@KurNorock Жыл бұрын
@@SBG_ARMS +25. With that offset you can run 37s with only minor trimming to the bottom plastic of the front bumper. And it is also a good idea to trim or flatten the pinch seam that runs around the inside of the wheel well. There are plenty of KZbin videos showing how. You don't have to do the whole thing either. I only had to do the first 18in or so on the rear side of the wheel well. You might also need to do a body mount chop, which is exceedingly easy to do. However, some Tundras do not require it and some after market upper control arms can move the tire forward enough to not require a BMC. I am currently running 37s on my 08 Tundra. I did a BMC just to be safe before I even bought the tires, but later saw that I didn't need to once I actually got the tires on. I did not have to do any trimming to the fenders or any painted surface.

Is the higher the + offset the more tires will stick out? I have the same lift if I do 20x9 with +25 offset and 33by12.5 will my tires stick out a bit more? If not what do u recommend in my situation?
@kccreations59453 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremey! It's definitely confusing to wrap your head around at first. It's actually the lower the number the further the wheel sticks out. So the factory Tundra wheel is a +60 offset which means that the center of the wheel where it is mounted to the truck is 60mm closer to the outside of the wheel which allows it to move further in over the rotor and hub and all that so it doesn't stick out as far. If you move to a lower number (like I did with a +25 offset) that is moving the mounting location on the wheel closer to the center line which in turn pushes the wheel further out giving you that nice stance with a little "poke". I would recommend getting on the website below and looking up your truck and specific tires and lift and you can see different options on your truck. It's amazing! Let me know if you have any questions! www.customwheeloffset.com/search-wheel-offset-gallery

Had the bfg in 275/70/18 and wildpeaks in 295/70/18. Wildpeads are great byt really heavy for the tundra and ride rough. Testing out the 35/12.5/18 kuhmo at52 @51lbs and with 3peaks rating I think ill get my mileage back plus they ride much smoother.

There’s actually a steel sandwich plate under there that those 10mm’s go into. If you don’t remove em, that will be rattling around.

Nice truck! I have the same one in super white. I’m contemplating changing my stock tires to either the wild peaks 3 or the Ko2’s . My question is, will a 305 / 65 /18 tire fit my tundra on stock rims without a lift? Is a lift better than a level? I’m not going more than 3” up front & 1” at the rear. I like the proportions of the wheel size you have chosen.
@kccreations59454 жыл бұрын
Nice truck man! I have really enjoyed the wildpeaks and they aren’t near as expensive! I don’t believe that size would fit but I would check on “customoffsets.com” it’s where I checked my wheel, lift and tire size. It’s super helpful! From what I understand a lift gives you more suspension capability asides from just lifting the truck up like a “lift” does but again that comes with a cost. I have been really happy with my 3”-1”leveling kit from Pro-comp! Hope that info helps let me know if you need anything!

I have 285/65/18 KO2 (stock is 275/65/18) on a stock 2019 tundra and they rubbed when I had the wheel cranked all the way to one side when they were brand new. After about 5-10k miles they stopped rubbing. No way you're getting 305/65/18 to fit without a lift and some cutting. Also I live in Oregon and the KO2 are TERRIBLE in the rain. They have far less traction then the dealer tires on wet pavement and they do not do well in freeway ruts of water. I just bought them because of the snow rating but i don't think i would ever buy them again.

@@SSatterberg I’m installing the Bilstein 6112 top settings upfront & the 5160 in the rear at stock height tomorrow. This should level the truck & give me the clearance to slap on either the 305/65/18 or the 275/70/18. I’m still contemplating the top setting that will give me 2.5 “ upfront or drop down one setting to the 1.9 “ with a little rake at the rear. Your right about the KO2’s . I had them on my last truck & they were exactly as you stated.

I fit a 305/65/18 on my tundra, had to remove the mudflaps, bend the skid plate and chop up the plastics in the front under the wheel well. it works unless I go full lock then it will rub against something. 98% of the time it's not an issue.

@sighermike4 жыл бұрын
Do not get KO2's for your Tundra. I bought some 275/70R17 for my 4Runner and I couldn't keep them balanced for anything. Constant vibration issues when you go to a KO2 10ply tire. I complained to BFG and they gave me 50% off a new set, that I bought the stock size. Thankfully, my other ones had already gone 45k miles and were in need of replacing anyway, so I went ahead and bought them. If you get standard 6 ply tires, (C Rated) vs 10 ply (E Rated), the BFG are great. But so many people have vibration issues once you're into their 10 ply tires. I'm actually planning on buying these WildPeak's for my 07 Tundra Limited. My son has them on his 02 Grand Cherokee and they do really well in the snow here in Alaska.

so when you will go off road and when mud will stuck with your tire this way something gets break also you are not able to put chain in snow incase , big tires because its looks good and help you little bit in off road , my point its not that super great idea , long run you are wasting too much money unless your life is 100% off road . one thing is great you have a nice truck
@kccreations59454 жыл бұрын
Well seeing i've never had a need for snow chains I think I'll be okay. But I know if I needed them they would fit as long as they weren't too bulky! Also I don't think it's a waste of money since I would have to buy new tires anyways. These aren't more than your average truck tire. But thank you for your concern!

I saw another channel that mentioned that when they put a lift on their Tundra, the found the driver side sits about 1/2" lower than the passenger side. I don't know why but when I measured my Tundra, sure enough the driver side was shorter. They also said there is a shim that you can get installed that will level the front end which would help.
