Even though I'm 6'3, and built like the proverbial brick outhouse, this is the sort of narrowboat I'd have, if funds allowed - a dinky little thing, 20, 25ft long, just something to exist in as you potter about on the canals. Lovely stuff.

She's got herself a cute little pink boat there. I loved her decore of the pink flamingos too. She's made it her own & all & I think it brings out her fun side of things. You do you girl. One fantastic little boat & people can't get it mixed up when you give someone directions to get to your boat either. You tell them that your in their area & tell them to take the foot path by the train station, just a metaphor, & your the pink boat on the right... lol... Such a fun little boat. I'm sure someone else has probably already solved the stuck weed hatch. New paint. Even though the paint was likely dry when the hatch was closed, it wasn't really cured. It happens all the time. A thin putty knife usually works.

Yes, but there is a rubber gasket seal between the "weed hatch well" and the cover. The gasket, usually, is fixed to the lip of the well with a waterproof adhesive directly to the metal. The cover is then closed and is clamped in place. If the newly painted underside of the cover is stuck to the rubber so it couldn't be easily removed is probably best left to the boatyard. And if that didn't work then again it might be a stuck baffle plate set into the uxter plate. And that is definitely a boat out of the water job.

I do like the blue bits as well - it's sort of Kath Kidston scheme, and I mean that as a compliment to Lorna's colour choices, as I really like them. I hope the snagging list gets shorter very quickly, and Lorna has many happy miles, hours, and memories on this lovely little boat.

Lovely little narrowboat! I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your video a month or two ago; the SlowTV one. I have always wanted to see how the locks worked, but most folks cut that part out of their vidos, showing moving the gates perhaps, but never the whole process. I have never seen locks here in the US, though I know a few places have them, but i am fascinated by the narrowboats, and like the videos. By the bye, I purchased your book so I could read up on more narrowboating stuff! Thank you very much for sharing. :-)

I would love to see a tour of one of those Springer narrowboats. The internet says the smallest model was the 20' (23'?) "Water Bug". Adorable. The brochure says it slept 4 and had an outboard! That's very interesting. Looks absolutely ideal for a small family boat.
