Talk about being a "jack of all trades"! You both work your butts off. Question about the wood cut with the saw mill, do you need to let the wood dry out before you use it? It depends on what you are doing with it and of course how much of a hurry you are in. But yes it should be seasoned but it doesn't have to be.
@Michael-rg7mx Жыл бұрын
So, there are a couple of things to think about. Diagonal bracing. Tie down straps, or Simpson ties. Runoff, roof sluffing, ground water management. Are you permitting the drain field or going on your own. There's a bit to do. The 1,200-gallon tank goes 10 feet outside. 3 inch nominal pipe inside to a clean out outside. Then 4"sewer pipe to the tank. 10 feet of solid sewer pipe to a distribution box. 3 outlets all solid pipe 10' to the drain field. Grade the solid pipe at 1/8" per foot. The drain field is all level pipe. 3 runs 80' long and 10' apart. Turn a clean out up at the ends. The ditches in the drainfield are 16" deep and 18" wide. Line with 6' wide fine wrap fabric. 4" of rock. 4" perf pipe, holes down, covered with 3/4" rock 4" deep. Fold the fabric over the rock, then fill in the 4" of soil. I use sheet metal framing screws to hold the pipe together till set up. Set up the depth of the drain field then go up hill to the tank. The depth of the field is important. You want it to evaporate up. When you dig the field, take the spoils away.

Since you're moving the Museum pieces, I think it would be interesting to get a series of videos of you folks unboxing the items at the new spot, along with a little blurb on what it is, and where it came from. Also, next time you are in the shafts where there is stuff your digging out, take a spray can and mark the level where it was on X date. and if you take a pop bottle full of paint, you can empty it down the main shaft so that when you see some painted stuff appear, you know you're close to finishing....

Frank when you say you're moving your trailer up there I had to ask if you're still using a tree trunk as a frame support to tow it ? Did you ever get your degree from Mickey Mouse engineering for that one - - classic. 😄 I've been watching some other vids from folks doing explorations in Arizona and I did see the ones you did down in the Southwest. Remember I suggested you check them out when I commented on some of your BC ones. One other burning question what happened with the plane deal did you get another one or did you find an easier way to take down fences ? Sorry I couldn't resist - - I really should go back out to Arizona and spend some quality time trying to find some of the mines I told you about that I had found when we used to hunt all around the Salt River Canyon, Tonto Basin and back of the Superstitions. I went back for 4 days but hardly recognized many what used to be wild spaces because so many are now populated. I haven't seen anyone do vids on at least two of the sites so who knows might see if the old body still has a hike or two left in it. Was wondering why I hadn't seen much from you recently - - hope your new venture works out for you as you couple knowledge with the spirit to go where most others just won't. Being honest here sometimes getting out of bed is an athletic event because at 73 I don't know how many times I have left to turn the hour glass over and still have sand left to drop
