Hey Julia! Where did you learn that frozen veggies lack fiber? I have good news - that’s not true! In fact, frozen vegetables can retain more nutrients and fiber than fresh, as they’re preserved immediately after harvest and don’t start breaking down in transit and sitting on store shelves. Either way, eating vegetables is a good thing, fresh or frozen, and you don’t need to worry about nutrient loss in frozen vegetables. That said, if you don’t like frozen broccoli, don’t eat it! 😋
@nixvon7 ай бұрын
came here to say the same thing. it’s definitely not true so not sure why she said it was when she’s just heard about it lol!

I don't know how that would be possible. Can't believe everything you hear, for sure.

I agree- frozen veggies are still a great source of nutrients and retain all their benefits! And they can save you $$ , if you buy a massive bag of say mixed veggies or just one type on it's own and store for awhile

Quick Disclaimer! Frozen vegetables contain about the SAME or even more nutrients and the same fibre as fresh! I don't know where Julia found this misinformation, but it's not true, eat all the frozen fruit and veggies you want... Ifyou really think about it with common sence, how would freezing remove fibre? Vitamins are temperature and light sensitive, but fibre not🤔🤓🌱
@juliaayers1117 ай бұрын
Let me see if I can find where I found this info out!! There is so much misinformation on the internet that it’s truly hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong! And sometimes something resonates with me and makes sense, but maybe not fully true! ( I know I’m not alone on that one) But one reason I don’t like frozen veggies is because I find them soggy compared to fresh veggies. So when I heard that freezing damages the cell walls of vegetable and can damage fibre, it made sense!?!? But we all make mistakes, and my apologies for that 💛
@kecrn41327 ай бұрын
@@juliaayers111I do agree with you on that for sure…. The sogginess of frozen veg can be very “confusing” in terms of the fibre and nutrients in frozen veg!! LOVE this vid and others like it …. Budget grocery haul and meals! Soooooo what I need!! I am a terrible grocery shopper and meal planner (I joke…. Sort of…. That I have a complete disability when it comes to grocery and meal planning. It drives me nuts and I think it is part of my ED that never ever improved, no matter how well I was/am doing. Would love more of these!!! I’m in Ontario, Canada…. What isn’t expensive right now!!!!!
@sunnygirl54677 ай бұрын
@@juliaayers111 No blame to you, the internet is so confusing when it comes to nutrition information🥲 If frozen veggies and fruit are stored wrong in the store or stored wrong on the transport to the store their structure can get pretty damaged by freezer burn, that makes it really soggy, especially broccoli...that doesn't remove a significant amount of the fibre though, so no worries! Sometimes I get a bad packet and it is exactly that..soggy and the structure is damaged by ice crystals, but most of the time I get good packets..I buy small florettes in a little portion in a carton from the frozen section and steam it in a pot with a steaming basket, it doesn't get soggy at all and only takes 10mins and stays vibrant green! Bonus hack: if you cook broccoli or other cruciferous veggies (kale, brussels sprouts, cabbage, arugola, cauliflower) add a pinch of mustard powder or a little of raw veggie to your food, that activates the cancer-fighting compound in them which makes them so healthy, otherwise it is destroyed by the cooking process!!!☺️🌱🙏

Frozen foods don’t lack fiber. They are blanched and will lose digestive enzymes but that is true for any cooked vegetables or fruit. Over time they can lose antioxidants and certain vitamins if frozen forever. Also, just relax and try to not label everything. I guarantee when you are 40 you can look at these videos and realize you still don’t have everything figured out. Life always has more lessons to teach and you will always learn new things and realize things you thought were right at the time will make you wonder what you were thinking and you will see everything from a different angle.
@elizabethgavrilova81817 ай бұрын
I agree with all this, but especially the latter part of your comment- about not labeling things. Lately, I've been watching her videos and feel like she's oversimplifying life and projecting this pseudo-philosophical approach to every little thing. This is different than approaching things with a simpler mindset or a flexible attitude towards shifts and changes that will occur throughout our lifetime. Two totally different things. Life itself is not black and white, there are WAY too many grey areas, and uncertainties and unexplainable things. You're 100% right- not everything needs a label and certainly does NOT need to be understood at age 25. Our minds and attitudes and perspectives will change sooooo much over our lifetime...
@thegreengoddess88507 ай бұрын
@@elizabethgavrilova8181 I agree with you. Last video I commented that you have to get out of your head. Analysis paralysis. I spent decades trying to figure out why this why that and not one second really did anything but make me obsess over things and waste time on things that don’t matter 2 weeks later. I started watching Abraham Hicks videos and she gave great advice that I connected with and haven’t bothered with all the monkey mind since. She said “when you are driving in your car, you have to focus on the road in front of you. If you focus on what happened 10 miles ago, you are going to get in a wreck. You must sit faced forward and make sure you focus on your path and if you don’t like where you have been, don’t make silly detours and waste time making stops that you don’t really want. I’m 52 and have things now figured out and the people, places and things that I let take me from my path are not welcome! I only have room for those things that help me on my journey. I wish i knew this 30 years ago!!! Also, Julia if you read this, no one is criticizing you. We are trying to help. Being stuck in feelings is ego. If you try to understand what is being said, you will save years and years of frustration and hurt. Is something good for you? No? Move on. Simple as that. If you make more out of it you get derailed.

One of my fave budget vegan meals was and still is bean and mushroom pickle tacos, yep you heard it right. Any mashed or refried beans (usually black or pinto) smeared on corn tortillas with a few slices of mushroom sautéed in as much garlic as possible (I know mushrooms are not always budget but a little can go a long way) and a bit of sliced or diced dill pickle for a vinegary crunch. Fold and bake in oven until crispy, best served with a few or many dashes of hot sauce and if budget allows some cashew cream or avocado would be even more delish. I live in Southern California, beans and tortillas are very inexpensive and readily available here and I am fortunate to access avocados often from a friends/neighbors tree for free 😋

I don’t know how it works where you live, but here in The Netherlands they say frozen vegetables have the same nutritional value as fresh vegetables. IF there is a difference is so small that it’s not really worth it to buy everything fresh, because fresh veggies can go bad way faster so on a budget I should say buy frozen veggies!! But still, don’t know if thats the case for everyone ❤️❤️ much love

Hey dear! Wanted to suggest making pizza but instead of pizza dough to use lavash (wraps) as the base and then of course tomato sauce/cream sauce and all of the veggies on top. I put one wrap - sauce, stack another one on top with sauce so it's not as thin and doesn't break apart. My personal fav toppings are mushrooms, hot pepper, onions, corn, some vegan cheese and some pickles. Kisses from Bulgaria

@@juliaayers111 I disagree but we all have opinions, don’t we? I recall in your first video in Cape Town you stated you didn’t carry cash because you’re afraid of being robbed. That isn’t a sentiment I’ve heard in any other of your videos in any country. I thought it ignorant at best and xenophobic at worst. Considering the socioeconomic situation post-apartheid in SA and how the present day has been informed and driven by the history of colonization to the extent that 1-12% of Caucasian SA locals live in poverty while OVER 50% of Black SA citizens live in poverty, casually dropping your fear of being robbed rings differently to me as a Black woman than it likely did to you in making that statement so publicly. I get it, this is a business for you and WIEIAD/WIEIAW videos are your bread and butter that offer a consistent viewership attracted to how a thin, conventionally attractive white woman feeds themself in hopes they can replicate the results. That steady viewership markets you well to sponsors. We all(or most of us) have jobs. But you’re also in a country that has been torn apart and built itself up in my lifetime, one that houses my and some of your other viewers’ families and friends. The reality is that the majority of your viewers aren’t going to look that far into South African culture, cuisine, or politics beyond your videos. The least you could do while living tax free in this beautiful, complicated country is explore the local vegan food or shop on a budget more similar to the median annual income as I promise you, it’s an eye opening experience. It’s one thing to say we’re all connected to everything around us. It’s another to show it beyond vegan food and adventures in spirituality.
