Several glaring errors & omissions in this video. Kobe died in a helicopter, not a plane. John Denver caused his own death by screwing around with his fuel controls. The plane was not out of fuel, but the engines were fuel-starved.

Legendary Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne died in the crash of TWA Flight 599 on March 31, 1931. The plane was a Fokker F.10 Trimotor. Unknown to the airline, moisture had seeped into the structure of one of the airplane’s wings, and had begun to weaken the glue that held the wing spars together.

Lynyrd Skynyrd should have made this list. Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gains too. They were and still are the best country rock band to every come out of the state of Alabama (correction Florida). PS- I made a error in what state they were from... That was so tragic. I had just purchased their new album 'Street Survivors' with the group standing in flames the day before they crashed and the day after the crash record stores were pulling them from the shelves. It was devistating because we had seen them play in April of that same year. It was one hellva show. It would be the last time I saw Ronnie sing. It was so sad to hear he and the Gains siblings had died. It hit everybody hard.

NASCAR's 1992 Winston Cup Champion Alan Kulwicki died in an airplane crash on Thursday April 1, 1993. He was returning from an appearance at the Knoxville Hooters on the Kingston Pike, in a Hooters corporate plane on a short flight across Tennessee before the Sunday spring race at Bristol. The plane slowed and crashed just before final approach at Tri-Cities Regional Airport in a field off of Interstate 81 near Blountville. The National Transportation Safety Board attributed the crash to the pilot's failure to use the airplane's anti-ice system to clear ice from the engine inlet system.

Steve Fossett disappeared on September 3, 2007 while piloting a light aircraft over the Great Basin Desert, between Nevada and California. Fossett set more than one hundred records in five different sports, sixty of which still stood at the time of his death. The crash was probably caused by powerful wind gusts that forced his small plane to slam into a mountain. His sweatshirt and wallet were found 10 miles from the crash site raising speculation that he survived the initial impact or that a bear ate portions of his body.

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen, known in English as Baron von Richthofen or the Red Baron, was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories. Richthofen was shot down and killed near Vaux-sur-Somme on 21 April 1918. I had a couple of close calls in commercial planes, that could have been disastrous had the problems not been caught before takeoff. In one case, it would have taken so long to fix the problem that I would have missed my connection, so they took me off of that plane with my carry-on bag and booked me on another to the same destination. I had to call my brother, who was going to pick me up at the airport on arrival, to tell him of the new flight number. There was another such incident with the onboard computer, which they caught and fixed on another plane I was on, before it lifted off. Most fortunate, I would say. I don't like to fly, anymore. The last time I flew it was so chaotic in the airport that I got really nervous to the point where they suspected me going through security and searched my bag. Found nothing, and I was allowed to board. But I was very nervous that day, due to an issue with my boarding pass. Flying isn't fun, anymore.

@@jrnfw4060 Both my parents are retired from the airlines and I've been flying all my life. Statistically it's the safest way to travel, and I will always do it to save travel time and increase traveling distance, but with close calls and changes to airport security the past couple decades, I agree it's not fun anymore

I know an old guy who was supposed to be on Patsy Cline's plane. She sent him home instead, to see his wife and kids. They had been on the road a while... He was also a friend of Jim Reeves, and J.P. Richardson, the "Big Bopper". He dropped out of the music biz, (got Loretta Lynn on TV first though, he had a TV show back then in the DC area) becasue he would not fly to gigs anymore. To this day is still a member of the Grand Old Opry. He and a guy I knew only as Mr Gray would play guitar and fiddle (Mr Gray could play!) while working the late shift as guards at the GEICO facility in Macon, Ga. His name is Jimmy Haney. Great video about him from PBS in youtube. And note I am from Macon, Ga and know the Redding family. Major omission sir.

And Waylon Jennings was supposed to be on the plane in 1959 but he gave his seat to The Big Bopper. Because J.P. was very sick.

@@donaldkennedy9573 I thought it was Richie Valens that was real Sick . He had the Flu . And yes Wynton Jennings was suppose to board that Chopper Plan. They rode through Storm conditions.

@@lisaanderson6920 I think they both were sick then. Jennings said that J.P. looked very sick and that he was extremely cold. Waylon didn't think that J.P. would last long. And Valens probably scared because he hated flying because he saw that plane crash in Pacoima.

Hey, what about the Big Bopper. He was on the same plane as Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly.😢

May they all rest in eternal Peace. When I seen what happened to Glenn Miller, his plane did crash into the English channel. The plane was never found
