Cool video! I've been through the upper rock creek 4 or 5 times, the last time in 2012. Each time I can't believe how beautiful it is. Brings back some awesome memories! Next time take a fishing pole, frying pan, seasoning and butter. Those lakes are loaded with pan sized brook trout.

Great shots on a great trip with some of my favorite KZbinrs!! I love how you guys love to pack and appreciate the views. Your passion for hiking was especially evident on this one!! Really loved some of your meadow/wildflower shots, and the sunset clips were awesome!! Hope you guys can do some more in the future. Don't know if others would be interested, but I would love you to do a video sometime on some basic K tape techniques on knees, ankles, etc. so that we could use it in a pinch on the trail. Thanks again for this one and leadership for my Ohio friends!

For-what-it's worth: Great video. Did you give all the lakes' their names? Also, would have liked you showing the watering spots you visited. Back in about 2003, I had lost some weight and missed backpacking in the High Sierras of Northern CA. Thought I felt good enough to backpack from Hanna, UT trail head to Granddaddy Lakes in the High Uintahs. I was in my mid-50s. I went alone and took way 2 much of everything. It was so rough just getting to the pass above Granddaddy. I found a spot near the lake and setup my camp. I was planning on fishing but I was so wore out from the hike that all I did was sleep in the tent. Lightning and thunder all night long. I also spent a considerable and multiple time sitting over a log unloading my intestines. It was beyond embarrassing because I wasn't too far away from the main horse and pack animal trail which unfortunately suddenly was loaded with animals and people. Luckily the hikers didn't point and laugh at me. But they could hardly miss me. There was a BSA scout troop maybe 200 yrds away from where I setup my camp. I ended up giving them at least 10 pounds of my food before heading back to the truck. It was a great trip but I learned alot about physical limits. Someone commented that I probably got altitude sickness on that trip. I live in Utah County since the 70s so not sure that was it.

I’m jealous. I had a trip planned to granddaddy basin with my kids for their first backpacking trip and had to cancel because kids got strep throat. Trying to reschedule but I don’t think it is happening this summer.

That happened to me when I was 14 the night before a 50 mile scout backpacking trip. Woke up in the middle of the night with a rash all over and found out I had strep throat. Sucked.

Hi Backcountry. Been watching your videos for a long time. My annual backpacking group trip is in the works, and we are trying to find a place that offers seclusion and solitude. Are there any trails that will be really secluded in this area? We are thinking of heading out in Jun. What are the conditions of the mountains during that time? We are avid backpackers who have backpacked in deep cold weather and also the extremes of the Badlands of SD in the summer. Can you help us out? Thanks!

Devin, so cool to see your different perspectives on this collab trip. The scenery is absolutely stunning. I've only been to Utah once--in Salt Lake City, at the World Congress of Families--a couple years ago. Alas, there was no time for backpacking. Hopefully I'll find myself up that way again some day. In the meantime, thank you for sharing the views brother. Also, quick question: did you use the Grandaddy Basin Bag for your food bag on this trip? I am looking to pick one up for a couple of 3-5 day trips later this Fall and am wondering what the weight limit is on those for bear hanging.
@BackcountryExposure6 жыл бұрын
Utah is simply amazing. Hope you can make it back. Yes, I actually ended up using two 4L Grandaddy Bags. 5 days of food is a lot and we don't quite have a roll top option ready yet. One bag will handle a weekend pretty good depending on what you're bringing. The bags will hold a lot of weight too. Haven't tested breaking point, but i've pulled on it as hard as I can with a friend to see if we could get the stitching to give and it held up fine, no issues.

No itinerary showing where you are intending to go, not saying what lakes you are passing and no fishing. No reason to subscribe.
@BackcountryExposure2 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry but that’s just not the approach that I take with my trip videos. Some channels choose to share every detail of the trip, location, land marks, etc. however I don’t find that to be a requirement for sharing my trips. The title has info on general location. And… I don’t make it a point to fish on every trip. Seems silly that that would be a reason to subscribe to a backpacking channel. Plenty of other channels out there that will check off all those specific boxes you’re looking for.

Seriously???? Do you really need to add all of the commercials during the video??? I know KZbinrs need to make money but really??? Also Tim Watson in my opinion doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Unsubscribing.
