I think the saddest backstory goes to Yoriichi. Because in he's childhood he's seen as a curse and his father despised him because of his mark and left him in a room. When Yoriichi's mother died he ran away. When he ran away he saw Uta which is going to be his future wife. They grew up and Yoriichi left the house and when he came back he saw his wife and unborn children lifeless. Kyojuro's ancestors saw him and offered him to be a demon slayer and when he faced Muzan he failed to kill him and got exiled. When he was old he saw his twin brother became a demon and cried because he can't kill his brother then died at a old age.

Tbh, I think the one that had one of the saddest backstory was Dōma As we all know douma was born with rainbow eyes and blonde hair, his parents thought it was a gift from the gods so they made him a cult leader at a very young age, he was sold for money and maybe was abused. One day his mother found out that her husband was cheating on her so he killed him and herself in front of douma, yes he didn't care but look would you care if your parents ruined your mental health tbh I wouldn't care too. His mother forced him to smile all the time even if he didn't have emotions and he still smiles till now.

I have to disagree. Douma never was actually traumatized by anything, he just really didn't care. He accepted to become a demon because he was bored and wanted to have fun so I'd say he didn't suffer all that much. Or at least not nearly as much as akaza or sanemi did

I don't think many understand how gentle Tengen was with Aoi. Because the Demon slayer corp is basically like an army. In an army you must follow every command a higher up (hashiras) gives you.
