Seen JANIS sitting in a small camping trailer backstage. She was by her lonely self. Sitting at the table with one leg up across the table. There was one empty quart bottle of Southern Comfort & one with about one shot left in it. Then later when she went "ON ", about one minute into the first song ,she "PUKED" on the microphone. Must have been the heroin. She went right off stage for about 15 minutes . She came back out put on a "KICKASS" show

Being in a social group where drugs are common the most deadly substance that has taken the lives of several friends and dozen of acquaintances to is alcohol. As far as what it does to peoples health is obvious but it's the damage it does families, marriages, friendships and jobs is every bit as devastating as heroin or crack. It's actually more dangerous because it's legal and socially acceptable.

I used to be an active musician for a while about a decade ago. This was when I was in my 20s. Played in multiple bands and lived like there was no tomorrow. While I did love music and still do, that lifestyle will wreck havoc on one's health. Can't even tell you how much I drank and woke up with a hangover. I remember for a period I was literally drinking min. 3 beers a day. Then an entire six pack on weekends with added booze. Literally have a photo of me chugging a bottle UV vodka. Crazy times.

As a former low level professional drummer = I have met many of these guys and been to rehab 5 times. Alcohol is what you get for free playing clubs as a perk. It just turns into a regular part of the day on the road to calm the nerves and stress, stage freight...etc...Then you find yourself at home shaking after lunch time if you don't have a few. If you think you have an issue please seek help and stay with it and best wishes. Sucks,...jail and sobriety go hand in hand.

A musician hit the bottle? I'm SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCkED! This was called out for in a hilarious manner in the "Two and a Half Men" episode, "Is There a 'Mrs Waffles'" (a rather attractive mother asks the question in an obvious attempt to get Charlie's attention for a potential date), where the jingle-writer Charlie Harper, whose career prospects were drying up thanks to no need for new material from him, has re-invented himself as a performer of children's songs. Part of his contract with his then-flame's ex-husband and children's records promoter (Richard Kind) is to do a live show and have it taped. Charlie initially refuses to perform a live show, but agrees to under threat of lawsuit for breach of contract, and he copes with his stage fright as he did with many of his problems...by getting plastered! While Alan is rightfully concern that a boozed-up Charlie probably shouldn't perform in front of a theater full of children, the agent is actually RELIEVED, saying, "He's a MUSICiAN...it'd bother me if he wasn't (drunk)." The taping of the concert ends up being a hit as well, as somehow the blitzed Charlie manages to entertain the kids anyway.

My dad was drunk all the time and he never played a single chord. If I had money and access alcohol wouldn’t be my drug of choice. Different strokes I guess.

It is a horrible life, having drug and alcohol problems. I watched my husband with it. He would vomit every morning and have the runs. He couldn't socialize because he would always make a scene. Sometimes he would seem possessed by a demon. It was a torturous. Don't try it.

These musicians are dealing with alcohol 🍸 and drug addiction which is very sad 😔 , but it is a larger mirror 🪞 🤔 on our society as a whole. Just my opinion folks 🤷 😌. If you're are addicted to alcohol 🍸 or drugs you need to stop ✋️ using them and seek help immediately. Because think about it the money 💰 🤑 and time ⏲️ you wasted by using alcohol 🍸 and drug addiction , you could be getting your life straightened out and invest your time ⏲️ and money 💰 🤑 💸 into bettering yourself , your life, your career, and your family and friends 🧡.

Jimi Hendrix woke up to a bottle of wine, went to bed with a different bottle of wine, almost always a bottle of wine within easy reach. But...our own age is probably the cleanest that's ever been. The rest of all human history is like a night-club with no closing time, no bouncers, no nuffin'......................... The pear orchard in autumn, the fruit still on the trees..... the hornets come and get so drunk on the fermented fruit that when the fruit falls, they don't know where it's gone. They still buzz around a pear-shaped hole, mystified. Elephants get zonked on fermented fruit too. Dogs love a beer when they can get one. The whole universe, left to itself, is smashed all the time!
