How do i do split sheets? How do i do beats for local artists and get royalty rights, and ownership in the song?

its on your PRO's site. Both people needs accounts and the declared song credits the other person. PRO=ascap/bmi . u just fill out the form. easy breezy. i suggest paper/written contracts that say the splits as well & get signatures. There is also the us copyright... for some reason many people are skipping this. definitely if its a legit song > file a copyright. also easy. supposedly that is just for court / proof of ownership. I'd love to hear her perspective on this ...

@tdtrecordsmusic thank you for your response. After you get copyrights, split sheets, etc... and it's time for an entertainment lawyer, does distance from your geographic area matter? How do you find a good entertainment lawyer that will protect you and help you find the best opportunities?

@@DL-1i wanna clear something up tho. In her vid " Why Every Artist Needs to Learn Split Sheets " she makes a distinction between collab agreements and split sheets. Yeah, I didn't know split sheets even existed. I would NOT use something like that !! You definitely should find something like what she showed as a collab agreement. Read a bunch and find one that works for what you do. that has what u need. I have a couple and they are very important. what is called a split sheet is way to vague. and, i can't really answer ur lawyer question. she seems cool.

@tdtrecordsmusic I hear you. I saw a video about split sheets and an artist did not sign a split sheet agreement for the producer until 20 years after the studio session and song release. The artist wouldn't sign the royalty split until a new sync licensing opportunity arrived, and they needed the money. Over 20 years for that producer to start getting paid.
