Very nice cw. I agree 👍. For hunting loaf on a trip or a hunt new cases or new formed from new. Use these cast loads or cheap loads.

Great video. I hate measuring my brass after I’ve ladder tested it because it’s all over the board like your first box was with lower pressure rounds. Drives me nuts.

Firing light loads you need to open the flash holes if you're going to shoot repeatedly. The primer firing acts as a piston pushing back and the brass forward pushing the shoulders back in the chamber, thus in a way acting as a sizing die.
@cw2a2 ай бұрын
@1lnbrdg This can be very useful IF you dedicate the brass to the light loadings. I do not see a need for light loads in this whelen. Thanks for watching! 🇺🇸🤘🏼❤️🩹

The case cradle on your Casemaster looks different than mine. Is yours custom or newer/older? Had mine for over 20 years I think. Worst box of factory ammo I ever bought, of any cal, was Remington Core Lokt 35 Whelen. Pie plate-sized groups and case head seps on 2nd firing. 😮

👍🤠🇺🇲 Morning CW. So, are you setting the zero on your calibers at SAAMI specs?
@cw2a2 ай бұрын
@@sixshootertexan I am setting at the fired size. This should be SAMMI, but thats an assumption. Assumptions can be bad. So running off what you have. Knowing it was fired in that chamber if what you want.

When you’re checking to see if there catching on the inside, how much is too much? I know when I full length size my guys don’t go all the way down and they always leave a mark like that and I always worry about Separ, but I’ve never had one separate date knock on wood.
@cw2a2 ай бұрын
@@tripplebeards3427 Outside mark is a shiny ring. Thats a warning sign. Dosen't necessarily mean bad, it means brass is moving. INSIDE ring is bad if you feel anything inside toss the brass. It should have no detectable depression inside.
@tripplebeards34272 ай бұрын
@@cw2a never checked any of my brass like that before I’ll have to rig something up on my bench with a small punch like you have set up and test.

Just finding your whelen videos, so I’m behind. Is your chamber a custom cut chamber? I noticed by using a die bottomed out as per standard setup procedure, if I used hornady brass brand new I’d get 3-4 reloadings amd they would start to stress crack at the head. Any other brand it was not doing that, and these were not max loads.
@cw2a23 күн бұрын
It's a custom rifle, but a Sammi reamer was used. My dye position is determined by the shoulder bump Im seeking. Case head cracki g?? Id try better brass! I have never had a case head crack. Necks shoulders and bodies yes! Proper Annealing can help prevent this.
@45-70Guy23 күн бұрын
Tried to post reply it might double up, But yes with hornady brass it will crack where that same ring shows up on yours. RP sized 06 brass, Winchester brass, and Norma 35 whelen brass all show the same on outside as yours but do not crack. This is in 2 different factory whelens.
@cw2a23 күн бұрын
@45-70Guy Sounds like case head. In my case this was a result if pushing shoulder too much. Check my videos on shoulder bump. Might help you see and understand.

@@cw2a I’ll check out your others. Good to find another whelen guy. I have a few whelens I got dialed in but it’s an addictive habit to reload so I have a few more whelens to mess around with. One being a reamed Remington 760 to 35 whelen AI.
