As a long time Kpop fan (my username is a clear giveaway), I very much agree with what you said. As you said, it’s not atrocious but I can’t with the MV. Kpop fans know not just the music but also the ent business itself and the culture. However, in his case it just came across like he didn’t do the needed research nor understand the genre better before releasing the music. I think that’s why there are many dislikes. One can tell if your heart’s in it fully or not, and it didn’t seem like that to me. Watching it felt like he released it because he could, because he wanted a piece of the pie that people are coveting for, potentially turning it into a business. It doesn’t feel like a passion, but rather looks like he went in with a “business” mindset. Sure, he has the money to pursue his interest and turn it into reality, and he did. “He doesn’t have to understand or know about the kpop scene first because he’s rich” doesn’t cut it. Clearly the public has expressed their thoughts on this. Also, going into the ring unprepared may not yield desired results, esp when the others are much more experienced and stronger. He’s gotta up his game if he wants to stay in the ring. It’s great he has the financial abilities to support what he claims to be his interest, and explore a field many youngins can only dream or hope for. A little sincerity and research into the genre or music scene he’s entering into wouldn’t hurt.

I think Yong is not stupid, he probably went into this knowing all the cringe and hate he will be getting, but it's the price of being a pioneer in this business venture of creating kpop industry in south-east asia. He's just putting himself out there to do the ground work, to have an understanding of what it takes to be a trainee, establish a network, laying the foundations, walking the ground, before having what it takes to make good trainees. He's leading the way into unchartered territory, and chances are, he might have the final laugh down the road. It's a trade-off, to be a pioneer in this business, he has to first endure the cringe and mockery from the public, just like any other pioneer endeavor in the past. that's the barrier to entry.
