HAPPY DECEMBER 11TH EVERYONE!!! Instead of participating in Vlogmas this year, i'll be dedicating all my December uploads to THRIFTMAS! In todays episode, i'm trying out a totally new style that is SO different to my usual aesthetic, but it's a style that so many of my viewers love! I visited 8 thrift stores and spent $350 on a range of different Dark Academia outfits, and i'm so happy with how these turned out! Yeas straps are for a larger chest, and the “holsters” are just leather accents to sit on wider hips.

Yeah that corset is probably 2 sizes bigger than she actually needs. The side hip bits are to simulate a look of an uncovered bustle cage. Think post apocalyptic victorian/edwardian lady that had to ditch the skirts in favour of fighting for survival.

It's not, it's a boules bag. There's a million floating around oz opp shops. It's larger and hard bottomed and has pockets and often a divider and hinge section. Similar, but not a Dr bag.

I had my “colors” done for me when I was 13. I learned which colors look the best on me and I’m what they called Autumn. I would for sure say you are too. This was back in the 80’s and I know there was a book bc I’ve seen it in thrift stores. Its a lost art, now, but there is something to it!

I've no idea how to style them in a modern fashion, but corsets historically are meant to be worn over top of a layer of clothes! They were never worn directly in touch with the skin :)

It is way more comfortable to wear with a piece of clothing between, be it a real corset liner type thing (idk exactly what they’re called but good corset retailers will sell them) or just a cami/singlet between the skin and the corset. Also they make great layering on top of regular tops and dresses.

Vegan too and I agree, I have a leather bag I got secondhand from a charity shop that I love. If I saw it brand new in store I wouldn't have bought it. I'm sure some people would disagree with us though and that's fine too

Personally i don't feel comfortable with wearing leather. Especially as a vegan. I mean its your thing. But vegan basically means against animal cruelty and the exploitation of animals so leather is definitely not vegan. And thats just my personal opinion about it but I just feel uncomfortable thinking about wearing leather even though I don't eat dead animals. So why should i wear dead animal yk. Especially when I have the possibility to choose fake leather instead.

i see quite a few of my vegan friends thinking like this. one of them is a huuuge fan of dr martens but since their vegan shoes are basically just plastic (like all fake leather) she doesnt feel like paying 300$ for those so she buys 2nd vintage dr martens from thriftstores or stuff like depop and all. I'm not vegan (but still conscious about all of this, sadly never succeeded in becoming vegan even if i tried real hard but i'm making as much effort as i can) but i like this thinking. i don't want to buy new leather and encourage that kind of industry but if i see something from real leather i like second hand i would get it. the people making it aren't profiting from it anymore + it lasts much longer than fake leather who pollutes a lot

@@Emily-dj5je Fake leather does far more harm to the world than a second hand leather item can. Fake leather is well known for shedding microplastics which cause massive harm to aquatic ecosystems. Perhaps search "Faux Leather Microplastics" if you want to read up on it.

Faux fur and leather actually creates more pollution than having real fur or leather. I do like to thrift and I always pick up second hand leather items because they last so long if taken care of.

Vintage leather is the way to go..... amazing how the quality stays. All my leather and fur pieces have been thrifted. When I was growing up they called it faux leather, now it's called vegan. But just a thought....if the cows they are using for meat, if they just threw away their skin that's made into leather.... wouldn't that be more wasteful?!? 🤔

@@WineSaladFrenchFries the point is to not kill them at all. And they don't use the hide from meat cows for leather. Meat cows are grown fast. Given medications to make them grow faster to produce meat faster. So, just like humans, when they grow too fast, their skin gets stretch mark's. Stretch marks on leather would ruin it. That is just one of the reasons they don't use meat cows for their hide.

Ding ding ding! You are 100% right. That's a general thing with off the rack corsets for some reason though, they almost all seem to be made for people with a D + cupsize, no idea why (I used to work at a corset store)

@@wingedyera what a fun job. Tbh I wore corsets in a pinup style photo shoot years ago with a bunch of friends to help one of our girlfriends get a group discount. She wanted to give the photos to her husband as a wedding gift. The people who helped me get into the corsets at Fredrick's of Hollywood were absolute angels. I wore a size 12 at the time which fits my frame & I was a C size up top. The way the corsets were laced & sized were for such tiny waists, even the plus size ones, & enormous breasts, they even set me up with extender laces but when everything was done everything fit everywhere & all I had to do at the photo shoot was button or zip up the front. Idk if that's what you did where you worked but no matter what I believe everyone can look & feel sexy in a corset so I hope it was a nice job for you.
